Which card is better? Are there any other better deals on the web for video cards?

I don't know much about video cards or motherboards so if someone could help me out I would really appreciate it. My price range for my entire computer is about 950 bucks so try to keep it within that range.

Yeah I'd have to agree. The BFG looks like a MUCH better card. Though I haven't been in the market for a video card in forever so I may not be the best reference.

Yes , go with the 4850 and a little more money will get you a card with better cooling

I'd go ATI if could build another computer

woo thanks for all the help guys . I will likely lean towards a 9800 gtx, so could anyone suggest a mobo for me because I have no clue about motherboards.

I prefer Asus motherboards myself.

I recommend getting an Intel x38 or x48 chipset. They are a lot better than the nNvidia chipsets.
Make sure you get a motherboard that is 45nm processor compatable as well

Also do you plan on using just one videocard or do you want to have dual cards(SLi or CrossfireX)?

You may wish to get a board with one pci-e 2.0 slot on it if you never wanna get dual cards.

Oh and for the videocards. Either of the cards will be fine. they are both about the same performance and beat each other in differant games. If you can spend a little extra money i would reccomend getting the 4870 or the GTX 260. The performance youll get out of those cards would be a lot better. But if you cant shell the extra cash for one of those i would reccomend the card that evil-jester suggested.

The 4850 is a better performer than the 9800GTX, hands down. In fact, the entire reason the 9800GTX+ exists is so that nvidia had something to match the performance of the 4850. The regular 9800GTX (no plus sign) loses to the 4850 in almost every single case.

I would not buy a 9800GTX unless it was cheaper. For the price of the BFG card you linked, the 4850 is better. If you want to save some money, get a 9800GT. If you increase your budget, the GTX260 and 4870 are excellent cards.

They're both excellent boards. You don't need an X38 or X48 board at all unless you plan on doing Crossfire.
