-heads up- Steam users!

I know 99% of you guys won't fall for it and the Steam client even WARNS you of the situation, but someone in the eGO steam group spammed:


Automated Message: Someone has sent you a GIFT, to receive it please visit [URL hidden]

Of course the site looks like your normal Steam login page, don't fall for it and lose your account! This one came through at 8:48 AM today (Monday). Anyone know how they do this? Can anyone in the group send this out?

Haha I'm sorry I didn't catch this sooner... the PERSON doing just used the nick name "Automated Message" and sent it, heck I used to do similar things as a kid in the 90's to people.

If you can click on the Offensive Material drop down link on the left of the SteamID page and report him for offensive text or something

I mean, its pretty easy to see scammers, the only people that fall for it, are people who are looking for something, or gullable, or both.
Thanks for the warning though, hopefully it'll stop someone from getting scammed.

Just in case, make sure that thats not quite the real adress that was sent to you, someone may try to log in or something...

I normally do not accept anything i don't know. Like I only accept eGO members as my friends due to the fact that I am an admin. However as soon as i see their tag is gone and I didn't really know the person that much I remove them. Same goes with groups, gifts, or some sort of IM conversation... it's like not taking candy from a stranger. Your Pre-school teacher did teach you everything you need to know =D. Don't take from others you don't know, appreciate others opinions, and respect other as you would want to be respected.

If you still have the link, you could report it to Steam Support. The account might be worth reporting as well.
