Hey guys,
I just need to know...
How do you bind keys?

thats the only one I know, but I assume the format is the same, just replace the quotes with whatever you want.

This is abbridged from the admin forum advance binds. There are way too many there for a person to remember but I'll give you a few to get the feel of it.

Here are a several useful binds that every admin and responsible team player should have. Change the bind key and message to whatever is comfortable or free on your keyboard.

Place the bind in your cfg file usually located at:
c/program files/steam/steamapps/your email/dods/dod/cfg. open the config with wordpad and copy and paste the bind. again make sure the button you choose isnt being used for something important

Communication and Teamwork binds

This bind is great for MGs. %c gives class and %l location. This bind asks for covering fire as you reload while giving your team a general location and class. Dont use this bind if you reload alot. It will spam the screen.

Assigning 1-0 numbers to keypad so you can free up 1-0 above your home rows for binds.

Final note: Be responsible with these binds, dont spam and help out your team and fellow admins. Enjoy 8)

You can bind keys without editing the file by opening the console in game and typing the bind. the format is bind keytobebound "command"
so to bind "Let's be carefull out there!" to the c key you would type:

bind c "say_team Let's be carefull out there!"

Function keys can be entered by F# so to bind F9 to "I need ammo!" you would type:

bind f9 "say_team [%c ] Need Ammo at [%l ] Please!"

That's good to know, actually. I spent some time this morning trying to set a bind and failing to do so, because of that little detail and not knowing it.

Actually, putting quotes around "f2" works.

but to make it less characters you have to type only putting " around your message and not your key makes it easier and less typing.

Just remember when binding keys do not change your number keys binding. If you do when you are promoted your admin will not work.

Mine work fine since I have bound slot 1 through 10 to the key pad. You just have to remember to use your keypad for the admin menus.

I recommend using the console for admin commands rather than the menu as you can add a reason for your mute, kick, ban etc. They did a good job covering that in admin school. You eG's and eGO's who haven't been should sign up for the next one you can make. Lot's of good stuff is covered. Not to mention the celebratory 'nade fest at the end.

Don't get to used to spaming with a bind to !medic. lol, I have changes in the future which will blind and freeze you in place while you heal yourself. Takes care of the unfair medic spammers while in a gunfight.

You get in the bad habit of it, and your gonna be unhappy. buwahahahaha

Basically heres several binds to give you examples

"say" binds basically the same thing as typing it in chat only without having to type it
ex.
bind "l" "say Join eGO for a mature fun gaming community"
bind "-" "say !medic"

"+" (action) binds
ex.
bind "MWHEELUP" "+attack"
bind "MWHEELDOWN" "+attack"
bind "C" "+crouch"

once you have these binded you can use the mouse click as well as mouse wheel to fire
and it works for crouch if you have crouch set to another key like ctrl


until you get admin these binds will be sufficient
