Garden to the Rescue!

Garden to the Rescue!

There was quite a hubub yesterday as INS rolled out an update that knocked out the #2 and #3 ranked INS servers in the world. Compounding the issue was that it was Kendle's wife's birthday! That knocked Kendle out of commission as he promised his wife he would do nothing eGO related and concentrate on her all day long. He promised that he would not even send a TXT msg from his crackberry and to ensure he would keep promise; his wife confiscated his crackberry and kept it in her purse!

So with servers down and INS players nearly in an open revolt demanding their servers, Kendle knew he could only turn to one man. One man and one man alone could save us! Garden.

But how could Kendle get the root password to Garden? He could not be caught dead using the computer. His wife had his phone. What could he do? He had only one chance....Telepathy . Yes, like when Darth Vader was talking to Luke Skywalker as Luke was speeding away in the Millennium Falcon in Empire Strikes Back, Kendle reached out using Jedi powers and gave the root password to all things eGO to Garden.

The mind to mind convo went something like this:

"Garden here is the root password *******"
"Kendle is that you?"
"Yes, use the password."
"Kendle, what must I do?"
"Garden, search your feelings."
"Dude, your not my father or anything are you?"
"Nah, but the INS servers are down."
"Updating them now. Thanks Kendle."

And that is how Garden became a full fledged server admin. Not the kind of server admin that can ban you, but the kind of server admin that can melt your monitor and grind your harddrive into stellar dust if you anger him.

Oh yeah, and he updated the INS servers and got them back online.

All hail Garden, mighty server admin!

Stay tuned for the next episode where we will find out:

1. who made the admin list (where you naughty or nice?)
2. what the specs of the UBERCLOK computer are
3. who's monitor will Garden melt first?
4. will Kendle get his crackberry back from the vile clutches of his totally nice wife if you are reading this. You are the best!

Thanks for fixing the servers, Garden, in time for me to get in some INS rounds in between study time! :D
Oh yeah, and it you're going to melt my monitor, can you warn me ahead of time, so I can hook up a cheapy CRT and not my nicer LCD? Thanks!

Great background story JohnT!!!! I want to hear more of the epic tale that began a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...

It is a period of Civil war. GardenGroveVW, striking from a hidden base in Southern California, has won his first victory against the evil, yet helpful server update.

During the battle, GardenGroveVW managed to acquire the secret root password to the #2 and #3 INS servers through telepathic means from Kendle. The root password, a combination of numbers and letters (presumably) is the secret to all for eGO INS. It's power is enough to access all vital components of INS servers for eGO.

Pursued by Kendle without any form of communication, GardenGroveVW races to solve the update crisis of the INS servers, custodian of the unknown secret password that can save the servers and restore freedom to the eGO INS division....

Being the star wars freak I am, I just had to quote that.

Good stuff being able to hear stuff telepathically, Garden Grove.

Remember, DOD source will be with you. Always.

Congrats on your powers Garden. Both ethereal and ethernetical.

Thanks for saving us all for sure destruction!

Haha, but seriously thanks ;], and I hope your wife had a good time.

just hahaha

Admiral Artimus...

Good job Garden!

John, your lack of accurate StarWars trivia knowledge disturbs me. Obi wan was speaking w/ Luke... Not Vadar.

*deacon closes his fingers in a quick crushing motion*

*Far away, in a line at Starbucks, JohnT falls over grasping his throat. Other customers step over his body to get their daily brew*

Admiral Artimus, you are now in charge of eGO.

*the Imperial March Plays in the background*

Oh Deacon, Deacon, Deacon...

like when Darth Vader was talking to Luke Skywalker as Luke was speeding away in the Millennium Falcon in Empire Strikes Back

This is after Luke is rescued from the cloud city, and he is in the back of the Millennium Falcon, cradling his stump.

Oh why oh why did I have to make this nerdy-ass post...

Okay... I misread it, I thought john was talking about the scene where the first Death Star was destroyed:

Greatest Movie of all time said:
INTERIOR: VADER'S STAR DESTROYER -- BRIDGE

Vader stands on the bridge, watching as the Millennium
Falcon is chased by the TIE fighters. As his Destroyer draws
nearer, Vader's breathing gets slightly faster.

VADER: Luke.

INTERIOR: MILLENNIUM FALCON -- SLEEPING QUARTERS

Luke realizes that Vader's ship is very near. He feels
resigned to his fate. He senses that he is beaten, more
emotionally than physically.

LUKE: Father.

INTERIOR: VADER'S STAR DESTROYER -- BRIDGE

VADER: Son, come with me.

INTERIOR: MILLENNIUM FALCON -- SLEEPING QUARTERS

LUKE: (moaning) Ben, why didn't you tell me?

INTERIOR: MILLENNIUM FALCON -- COCKPIT

Lando and Leia are at the controls of the Falcon.
Meanwhile, in the ship's hold, Chewie continues to work
frantically on the hyperdrive mechanism.

LANDO: (into intercom) Chewie!

EXTERIOR: SPACE

The Falcon races through space followed very closely by the
TIE fighters and the huge Imperial Star Destroyer.

INTERIOR: MILLENNIUM FALCON -- COCKPIT

Luke enters the cockpit and looks out the window. He is
almost unconscious with pain and depression.

LUKE: It's Vader.

INTERIOR: VADER'S STAR DESTROYER -- BRIDGE

VADER: Luke...it is your destiny.

INTERIOR: MILLENNIUM FALCON -- COCKPIT

LUKE: Ben, why didn't you tell me?

INTERIOR: VADER'S STAR DESTROYER -- BRIDGE

but that's not the point. I wanted an excuse to play that particular version of the Imperial March :P

So I guess JohnT is slumped over in a starbucks in CA for no reason... maybe I'm more like Vadar than I realized :D

Good Luck Artimus!
