Left 4 Dead Wins Best Game Of The Year 2008!

EdgeGamers.org is proud to announce that Left 4 Dead has won the =(eGO)= Game of the Year Award. We looked at several games for GOTY, but L4D won hands down.

Once again Valve swings for the fences and knocks another game out of the park! Innovative game play, teamwork, ease of install, hours of playtime and general over all awesomeness make this the must have game of the year. Unlike many other gaming companies, Valve?s games are not one run through games. Games like CounterStrike, Day of Defeat, and Teamfortress2 offer months and even years of enjoyment instead of the usual one play through and then you are through games of most companies.

L4D takes up where Valve left off with the Orange Box. Teamwork and innovation are part of a revolutionary AI system that makes this game unique. No game is exactly like the last meaning that the consumer gets more bang for their buck. The better you get the more difficult the game becomes. It is not by level but by your team?s own unique skill set.

It is also the scariest game Valve has released. The ambiance and art work is particularly good and frightening. After playing a couple of hours of L4D, zombie nightmares are in your immediate future.

We cannot wait for the modding community to start churning out hits based on L4D as well. Great Job Valve! We also want to see your canidate for next year's GOTY!

But for this November release season, L4D is hands down the best game of 2008!

I totally agree with the goty award, even though I'm a little obsessed with zombies so therefore a little biased. Can't wait for the real Z-Day!

Well, I dont like L4D but I think it deserves the award! Looking forward to more exiting games in 2009:D

Totally worth the money. I simply can't wait anymore to get my hands on this.:)
 
I was not surprised, I have only played the demo to this game but by all the reviews and previews I have seen and read, this game looks wicked. I am considering getting this for or before Christmas.
 
Do you mean PC GAME OF THE YEAR AWARD? Because, if you ask me. There are OTHER platforms for whom each has a GAME of the YEAR. But the overall GAME of the YEAR of 2008? Left 4 Dead? You are kidding me right? The game hasn't even been out for 2 months, and your judging it as if it's the best of 2008 over any OTHER game that has been released since the brink of this year from ps3, xbox360, Wii, PC, etc? No way Jos?.

I happily disagree that it is the 2008 game of the year. Also, I think it's in the top 5 of the best PC games out this year, but also not #1. It's a VERY hard decision if you ask me to judge such a title.

Because I haven't seen anybody mention candidates for Game of the Year such as Far Cry 2, Gears of War 2, Fallout 3, Dead Space, LittleBigPlanet, GTA IV, Rock Band 2, Spore, Metal Gear Solid IV, Mario Kart Wii, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Burnout Paradise, ETC.

Each has it's own chance of becoming a game of the year for the console it represents and those which are multi-platform also have a chance of getting a game of the year award.
 
Well Johnny, when Spore came out I was disappointed. I think it was terribly made. The graphics were cartoony, they took out the plant editor, it has some minor rare glitches that force you to restart the game and civilization stage went from keep your people happy to keep your people happy so you can get more monies to kill everyone (if you aren't military it is too hard). Maybe I just didn't like it because I lack creativity.

As for Little Big Planet. That hasn't been out for long either. I think it's a terrible game. It was made very well but I can do everything it has to offer and more in Garry's Mod and more for only 10$.

Rock Band 2 was good but I think, "I could buy a real guitar for the cost of Rock Band 2 & all the extra equipment. (I admit a pretty bad one)." I'd rather learn a real instrument then pretend to be good at playing one.

Most of those other games I haven't played or seen played so I won't comment.

To conclude. Left 4 Dead is the best game of 2008 in my opinion. It has good graphics (nothing special), the AI is very well made. The maps are well made but it could use a few more. The boss zombies are well designed but I can't help thinking "here we go again" whenever I get puked on by a boomer. Versus is great, nothing like ripping apart a helpless survivor who abandoned to others.
 
Left 4 Dead!

I like this game for the reason that it concentrates on team work. You can't accomplish the game alone. Even on the easiest level.

Team work is what makes us such a great gaming clan/family!

Do you choose only games like CS: Source, L4D etc. or choose every kind of game?
