I ask because the comments are poor. With this card I was wondering what i could get fps wise on tf2 or cod4?

Not many frames and not a high level of detail either.

If youre looking at cheap gaming graphics, the GeForce 8600GT or Radeon 3870 both of these run around $50-$125

Few questions first, what brand is your PSU? And how many amps on the 12V rail/rails?

How much are you willing to spend on a new card? Oh, and what are the rest of your specs?
 
I used to have this card before my current build. Exact same model and from bestbuy. It was superb for the price.... It ran CoD4, L4D, TF2, CSS, all fine on high except cod4 and L4D (medium)...

I say if you just want a card for casual gaming (not any competitive) then go for it

EDIT: I just checked the price... for that price no way get it. You can get an 8800 gt for that price. Check on newegg or tiger direct it should only be around 50 $
 
If you can spare at least 30 - 40$ you can get the Ati Radeion HD 4670, and it is worth it trust me, it blows the 8600GT out of the water and the 9500GT and I guess one of the Nvidia 9 series that has a GSO in it... Not sure, can play COD:WAW at a steady frame rate of 30 if you put it all in max and at 1440 x 900, can play Fallout 3 on Ultra High with 1440 x 900 and plays Crysis at medium to low with some good frame rates, go cross fire on it and it'll be running like a 4850.

I'm just a casual gamer im looking for a minium of 40 fps for tf2/cod4 and 50 for css.

If this does that then can you hit me up with a repose?
 
I wouldn't recommend that card for gaming. You would maybe get 30 fps or so on high settings, at low resolutions.
I have an 8600GTS that runs fine on my 350w PSU, and requires extra power connections (it just runs off of what is supplied by the PCI slot), and I got it for $120. The nice thing about the GTS is that it uses DDR3 RAM, not DDR2, and I get about 50-55 fps in TF2 on high settings at 1440x900. I know that there are better cards out there now cheaper, as well.

What resolution are you running? I'm assuming a 19" monitor? 1280x1024?

If so then yes you can get 40 fps in those games... if you are running anything bigger then probably not...
 
Yes I'm running at 1280 1024 with 19 Inch Flat Screen Monitor. So thats a yes? I have my specs below.

4670, hands down. It uses very little power (no external power connector needed).

Don't get that 8400 - it's a very weak card, and unbelievably overpriced at the site you linked. Check out newegg for a nice cheap 4670 (I'm seeing some for under $60 after rebate).

yes a bigger PSU would let you use more cards but if you get a 4670 you probably wont need to upgrade and if you do you wont need anything more then a 500watt
 
PCI-E 2.0 is backwards compatible with the old PCI-E 1.1 standard. Do you know the exact model of your motherboard? Download CPU-Z, go to the Mainboard tab at the top. Should give you a more specific make and model.
 
I had that card ... Man it gave me problems all the time.
I picked up a NVIDIA? GeForce? 9800 GX2 graphics card.
this card is really great but it has a price.
