4850x2 for $309

Well I was on Newegg yesterday and I found that the new Sapphire 4850x2s are not $309!!!! The 2GB edition is only that price for a while but I believe the 1GB version is staying at that price and perhaps going lower!!! This is dirt cheap for a card like this! The 4850x2 on reviews and benchmarks is just a tish less performance than the 4870x2 and got better all around FPS than the GTX280. (Cheapest GTX280 on Newegg being $350, and the cheapest 4870x2 being $489) So if your the one who can't afford a 4870x2 one of these cards is right down your alley.

And on that note I thought I'd like to tell everyone who hasn't heard that XFX (A popular Nvidia graphics card manufacture) is going to start making ATI cards in the beginning of 09'

That certainly is a good price. I was running 2 4850's in crossfire and they were blazing fast.

Although I switched to a GTX 280 after being soured on the whole multi-GPU thing, so that is always something to consider. I actually get better frames with my280 than I did with my 2 4850's (which I would assume perform about the same as the 4850x2)

Click through all 14 benchmark games and you can see that most of the time its a trade off! 4850x2 does better in some games than the GTX280, and then the GTX280 does better in other games. If the cards through all 14 games where averaged out out the cards are about the same in performance. Just imagine when better drivers come out for the 4850x2 and 4870x2 that will "unlock" the bridge between the 2 GPUs O_O Then the performance will just be incredible.

Well, I have been thinking of switching to ATi (*whispering so my 8800 GTS in SLi don't hear*) since they appear to be cheaper and Intel boards support them.

ATM, though, my cards are handling everything ok, but 640 mb total isn't going to last long in the new realm of the memory hungry game.

I think 1 or 2 of these cards would be perfect for you Get yourself a nice X48 Intel Chipset board (Maybe even X58

) and you won't regret it.
