What causes VAC detection?

I download lots of stuff from the internet & I don't cheat on games at all

But I want to be sure That I didn't download anything that would cause VAC to go off.

What should I look for?

Nothing you donwload (besides hacks) will cause vac to ban you. If you use aimbots or speedhacks or any hacks you can and will most likely be banned by vac.

as far as I know, to programme a hack you need to use different coding to that of tf2 so basically, if VAC detects anything that isnt in the same coding it'll ban you for it but as far as cheatings goes, anything that gives you an unfair advantage will get you banned by VAC xxx

I've heard of many cases where the authors of game skins have included cheats in their skins, and people who don't pay attention get VAC'D
