Stutters in-game, impossible to play

Hello fellow Ego Members,

I have been stuttering for quite a month now and I can't take it any more I feel like destroying my computer right now, so is there any suggestions you can find, because I stutter in the following games,

CS:S
DOD:S
TF2
Universe at wars

Crysis Stutters so much like TF2 and all the other games.

Before I stuttered in-games I used to have a 375w and now when I installed the 420watt, it was ok for the first few days, but when I came home from school, my computer was off, so I tried to turn it on and it didn't then I installed back on my 375w, and thought the shut down took all the files with it and installed Win XP SP3 and that is where my stuttering problem began, I reformatted many times to vista and XP, but it was still there, it became so annoying that I can't play anymore...

Here are my specs.
AMD athlon 64 X2 Dual core 6000+
ATI Radeon HD4670 (New)
M2N mx Se plus Motherboard
4 GB of ram by G skill (new)
250GB 7200RPM Hard drive by Western Digital
450 (max output is 500w) Power supply PSU (New)

The one I suggested new are the ones I bought and didn't fixed my problems.

I tried everything on the new that people suggested, Deleting .blob and Config.cfg in Steam folder, Setting -heapsize to 512000, -dxlevel 81, Setting the affinity, Defragging, Cleaning my Hard drive, The dual core optimizer for AMD 64 X2 processor, buying new RAM/Graphic card, setting all in low graphic and res, setting the autoexec for tf2, and more. All these does not seem to work, and I tried everything, probably my hard drive or so, or my Motherboard/CPU or PSU, I do not know what it is, and I don't seem to be suffering Packet loss.

EDIT: It lagged in Crysis also, almost like TF2, all at medium, and the gameplay was I guess was 60-70 FPS down to 10-0 FPS.

Get a new power supply you cant run a new graphics card and a dual core on a 450W you don't have enough power going to the card and the card is not running correctly. I would see if you can borrow a higher powered ps from someone you know before you try anything else.

Ok, I'll try that at my aunt friend's house tomorrow, Although I did took out the graphic card and let the Chipset (6150 SE PLus) play on DOD:S low, I still get the stuttering problem still.

1.) Did you try updating graphics drivers?

2.) Do you have the latest DirectX runtime? (Link below run anyways it can't hurt anything)

4.) Whats your ping in game? Is it less than 200?

5.) Are you running Cable, DSL, or Satellite? Are you using wireless or are you wired?

6.) Are you running any P2P in the background or anything else that is using your connection?

7.) Try using AMD Fusion for gaming

On another note here is a PSU calculator to give you a rough idea of how many Watts your going to need. According to what I guessed for you it's going to need at least a 600w PSU.

I did upgrade my drivers, and my directX.

I don't have any Anti virus software on, or P2P.

Nope I hate wireless anyways.

Whenever I stutter it goes up all the way to a 1000 or 2000, and when I am not stuttering, it is 40-30.

And I put net_graph 4 up and when I stutter I seem to get up to like 1000-2500 in sending the package and the Out only receives 100-200.

Your calculating site doesn't got the 4670 Ati radeon card, so I do not know.

On ATI's website for your graphics card they say to use "400 Watt or greater power supply " Chances are you have other things using power so this is a very very low estimate.

Its not really watts anymore as much as having enough amps on the 12 v rail or rails to correctly run the graphics card. If you don't have a high enough current the gpu will not run correctly.

Tell me something. Does your Hard Disk Activity Light constantly blink? That could mean your hard drive is the culprit. I recommend you run Disk Checkup by passmark. Go to the smart info tab and tell me the raw value of this:
Raw Read Error Rate
Spin Up Time
Seek Error Rate
Reallocated Sector Count
A raw value of anything other than 0(except for spin up time)for the above may be a sign that you got a bad drive.

I see... I guess it is either my PSU or my AMD core processor, because I went over my friend's house today, and hooked up my hard drive and played CS:S, DOD:S, TF2, and Crysis without no stutter, Either it is my PSU or my Processor I doubt that it is my graphic card though.

Its probably not your graphics card or processor just a lack of power to both components under heavy load. Probably not the processor but most likely the graphics card not get the correct voltage or amperage that is needed. Just out of curiousity who makes your PS and if you can read it and let me know on the 12v + rail and or rails how many amps do you have on the rail or rails since you could have more then one.

You wanna rule out hardware before assuming its a software issue or a internet issue. If a different ps doesn't fix the problem then it is the internet or possibly a infection but he tried his hd in another box and didn't get the problem so its not a infection leaching the bandwidth. It has to be either a bad internet connect or some form of hardware causing the problem. With that low of a power supply with his hardware then its most likely the ps.

It does it in Single player games also, it seems that my Hard drive is ok... BUT looks like my Power supply is the culprit, because I did some Temp testing for my CPU and it goes up to 50˚C while I was playing TF2, I guess my Power supply can't pull out the juice for the ATi 4670... Nor my CPU that uses so much Wattage (120). Dang gotta look for as power supply before newegg stops shipping, walmart.com doesn't have power supply in their stores and Best buy has them, but its too pricey for a 600w, I need something around Amarillo's area that sells Power supply that is around 50-70 $, I guess my area code is 79107.

There is correlation but not necessarily causation between (ping) response times and a stuttering PC. If the PC is having problems processing video frames, for example, it's likely to have slow response time dealing with network packets too.

Have you tried to check the voltage and currents? Monitoring via the OS isn't gospel but it will give an indicator at least. Here's a free lightweight monitoring program. What are your ranges? (Be sure to start up your PC and run a game for a while.)

all you have to do is uninstall steam and reinstall. i had the same problem. thats what cured the prob for me

By the way Scrappydoo, I tried it and it said and ranges from 1.21 - 1.25 Volts.
