Why EGO has rules and Thanks for it

For those that know me, I have 4 kids. My youngest is 5 and he sees my other boys playing video games -so he also likes them. Well when he uses my oldest sons PC he must play on other servers than EGO because my oldest son doesn't want his 5 year brother ruining his stats - well today my 5 year old was playing in a non EGO server and said to me - " Hey dad look at this lady shes funny" - well when I looked it was a spray of a spread eagle woman! Ugly one at that - anyway I will try to let him play on our servers for now on - and Thank you EGO for giving us and everyone a place to play where its family oriented!!

I like the maturity in the eGO servers, that stops flame wars full of offensive language, and I do not mean to offend anyone, but I really don't think anyone too young to hear offensive language and see offensive pictures, should be playing an M rated game. I am not trying to offend you for letting your young child play, but I do not think glorified violence, people dying and intense amounts of blood are good for a child who takes all their influence from the media. Saying that, I do not understand why people are so uptight about sexual content. It is a part of life that everyone will have, and is a natural thing. But violence and murdering people seems to be ok, in comparison. People dying violently having their limbs blown off is ok, but showing the breast of a woman is not?? I find that kind of hypocritical.

If you think this is graphic violence and death is suggest you go see a person die and then get back to us. To compare a game to the gore and death of war is a stretch. If it's M rated act mature, don't get all upset when you die and curse everyone and share your porn with us. I don't know any mature people who go around putting up some of the pictures i have seen. You should be forced to watch some of the most depraved and disgusting pictures ever created that we have had to admin. You cannot unsee those.

Games should be fun, not getting all upset and mad. They should relax you not cause you stress. Most people that get banned, and cannot play here anymore, give that M rate argument.

At 69 I have done what most guys do and see, and you cannot hide death and destruction from people but it is nice to know you can play on eGO and not hear bad language and see inappropriate sprays. My 11 year old granddaughter likes to play dod with me on her computer and I and her mother (my daughter) are happy to let her play on eGO.
As some of you guys and girls know I live in Australia but I haven't played an Australian server since I found eGO.
Stick to the rules they are there for every ones pleasure.

There has been no research to support that. None that i know of anyway.

IMO we should get this thread back to what it started as : a thanks for clean servers where the game is the primary focus. It's Brewmaster's choice as to what his kids are allowed to do and play - there's no need for a debate about parenting.

I find it a bit odd too, but my opinion is invalid here. Just ranting... Rated "Mature" for violence and gore is fine for children, yet Rated "Mature" of nudity or foul language is unacceptable. I do not quite understand the logic, but it is not my opinion that matters but the parents'. If a parent says apple is good but oranges, some may disagree, but ultimately it's the parents opinion that matters and it seems majority of EgO players seem to agree on it. So I accept it, play by the rules, and if for some reason I'd have an urge to curse, I would just find another server to do so for that time. =)

I am not sure what part you think I don't understand... but as a 15 year old you know alot more than you should

But I'm not trying to criticize your parenting, it is your choice to let your kids play and I trust that you can keep your kid from thinking that War is a real part of life. But my rant was more directed at the whole media in general. A natural part of life is terrible for a kid to see, but blood, violence and killing is ok. Not the kind of image that is good to put into a child's mind.

Well as I said in my original post -Thank you EGO for our family oriented servers. Now - yes its my choice to allow my kids to play a war game - and I personnally think Dod is really not that bad - the gore is quite low compared to some I've seen. Not any worse than the nightly news anymore or alot of prime time TV shows. However - extreme porn sprays, severe foul,nasty and racial langauge I do not tolerate and I'm glad EGO does not either. I see a big difference between dod and say a mature game like Grand theft auto. I would never let my son play GTA - I see some of you e members thinking that since this is a M rated game you should be able to curse and such - explain what Mature means - do you know? I simply like the fact that my son's can play dod in our servers without the porn,racism,foul langauge and general ignorance of some so called mature players. I appreciate it very much!! Its hard raising kids these days - for those of you that don't have kids yet - you'll see and good luck. EGO has helped me with a place they can play games online in a safer enviroment. Its my choice as their father to let them play or not play games and what type, I say dod is ok, I say EGO is where I want them to play them!!

Yea, you are definitely right, DoD is no worse than anything you can see on TV. And I definitely think that GTA is a terrible game. It glorifies gang killing, mistreatment of women, drugs, and other criminal activities. I am disgusted that it is actually available to be sold even to someone over 18.

Offensive sprays, racism and over abuse of foul language, is bad I just think the idea of violence and killing is worse for someone under the age of 10 than hearing a swear word. But no i do not tolerate racism, sexism, or intolerance of any kind anywhere, and am appalled that their are some people who think it is ok.

Non-eGO servers scare me! No, seriously, when I started playing DoD:S, the first server I joined was some kind of special flame server, since everyone was constantly swearing. I quickly joined another server and I stumbled upon eGO Donner where Crazy Duck recruited me Lucky me.
