Turtle Beach AK-R8's on their way!

those look sooo nice - don't they come with their own soundcard?

I have the Turtle Beach HPA2 - I've been happy as can be with them :)

I plan on getting a set of turtle beach headsets. Heard many good things about them.

Yeah, it's a built in USB sound card. The headphones plug into it. The HPA2's are the same model as the AK-R8's minus the included sound card.

Hope you enjoy them, I opted not to go the "true" 5.1 headphone route, however I am also extrmely pleased with what I ended up with and if any of you have about $200 and want a nice solution.

I got a stereo pair of Sennheiser HD555 headphones (I think sennheiser also makes a version with a built in mic, the pc250 or pc350 I think).

Plus an Asus Xonar D1 soundcard that does Dolby Headphone processing. I gotta say, I dont know how the surround effects are in the 5.1 headphones, but I think i ended up with the best of both worlds, great quality stereo headphones and awesome surround using dolby headphone. (I know its simulated surround, but I can tell you that it does actually work, and works well).

Either way, let us know what you think about your new headphones when you get them

Sennheiser's are probably a little more out of my price range than I'd want to spend. But, I know they'd be awesome, as they are a great company.

I checked the reviews on newegg before picking them up, and they were pretty mixed. Although, it seemed like the people that gave them negative reviews were looking for PERFECT 5.1 sound from a stereo sized headphone. Others complained they didn't work with 64 bit Vista (not an issue for me).

I'll report back what I think when I get them.

nice. I wish i had that type of money to spend, but of course i wouldn't need new headphones.
I have a receiver with 7.1 surround sound connected to my computer. That is so much fun.

wow Very nice but i dont game with head phones dont like them i like my logitech 5.1 surround speakers :D but i have a headset but i just the mic so yea ery good looking i would get thous see if they are comfy but nice tenghz

One of my good friends has one like this. I'm not sure that it is this exact brand, but I can say that it is really really cool!

I have a decent speaker setup (sounds good, but only is stereo/sub) for my computer, but I live in an apartment. I usually game late at night, so hence the need for headphones. Don't any cops showing up because I was playing TF2 at 4am. lol
