Hey guys,

First of all, I mean no offence what so ever with this questions, but I've been looking in the library and on the internetz and I've asked my religion teacher. None of them could give me the answer to the question why there is a seven-branched menorah on the site theme. I'm wondering what it has to do with christmas since that's a christian tradition and the menorah is Jewish.
My initial thought was that it has something to do with the Jewish background of Jesus... but I really don't know.

Thanks in advance and merry christmas :)

Your religion teacher couldnt figure that out that menorah = hanukkah
Might wana seek out another teacher...

And we have it there because eGO doesnt discriminate, so its only fair we represent them both, you know.

Technically if the Menorah was supposed to be a Hanukkah Menorah it should have 9 Branches total. 8 for the days and 1 shamash.

My father is Jewish and my mother is Catholic, I grew up celebrating like every holiday.

O and also Bas. B I think the menorah was put in there to show a little diversity, not everyone here is a Christian.

The 7 branched menorah represents the Temple of Jerusalem literally, though I believe it is intended to symbolize Hanukkah this time of year... Christmas is not the only major religious holiday that takes place in December, I know I am likely to miss some, but there are Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa, all in a short time span... To be fair, Santa Claus doesn't represent Christianity either... that being said, I don't much care for religion in general so the minimalist nature works great... It has enough in the header to represent a large majority of people without becoming overbearing... whoever made that, heck of a job...
