Actually they didn't your computer was vulnerable for about 2+ weeks. It's been in the wild for a few months.

MS was getting a lot of fallout from this particular vulnerability. Some people were recommending to switch to another browser and wait for a patch.

An independent study shows that, in 2006, IE users were vulnerable to online threats 78% of the time. Firefox users? Only 2%.

Agreed, i use firefox and opera, they are supposed to be the safer internet browsers. Im not saying IE isnt good but i like firefox better and have gotten no viruses since ive used it.
