Old people like video games?

Spore sucked so much! I installed it, played it for a couple of days and got bored of it
, its kinda stupid because alien keep attacking my allies and my planets, so I uninstalled it, really sucked a lot.

If you're looking to give him something where he can try different games, be social, AND can be intellectual... And the bonus of being CHEAP: Pogo membership.
Both my parents, and Hedd's mom are into Pogo. A year membership is only something like 30 or 40 bucks. Plus, they have a whole Pogo community, messenger bit (like our shoutbox) and age designated areas for the older crowd to escape the younger crowd.
That is, if your dad is into things like Chess, card games, dominoes, Trivial Pursuit, Scrabble, and various arcade like games. My mom is glued to her computer on "Challenge Wednesdays"... and I couldn't tell you how many badges she has earned. But Pogo games are pretty safe, and it does give people a community to talk to, if they want to... Unless they're freaks like Mom, who log out of the computer anytime anyone speaks to her by name. (She keeps forgetting that part of her first name is in her Pogo ID....)

my dad like HL all, far cry, fuel of war, crysis just to name some but that's just my dad

My mum is 65 and she started with games like age of empire and zeus.. shes now been going through the tomb raider series and shes throughly enjoying that lol 
oh she was playing monkey island as well, but I was looking for other games for her cos she was cursing like an old sailor lol
She tried tf2 but she puts herself off saying her reactions are not too good.. but i can tell you shes an addict for the new tomb raider.. shes so addicted she doesnt answer me for hours lol

I'm not sure the GW community is great for this situation. Plus the game experience is pretty incomplete if you don't get all the expansions, which can get a bit costly.

Flight simulators are always fun, SPORE for the PC is pretty cool, Starcraft lol.

I would try elderscrolls 4 it is not online but any thing and any one can be interacted with.
You pic your charecters race, male or female, age hair style and color skin tone facial features. it is so realistic. You go to jail for your crimes and depending on how long your in jail your atributes go down. As you use the atributes they increase and you level up.
You can buy houses and horses. Weapons armor clothing and weapons are fully customizable. Their are different guilds to join and become guild master of i usualy do theives guild and dark brotherhood first as they can potentialy carry jail sentences if you are caught you can resist arest pay the fine or go to jail or if you beat the thieves guild just wear the mask get coaught remove it and talk to a gaurd and they wont think your the fox.
it is addicting .
and call of duty 4 is a massivce online game for the ps3 and pc and it is not that gorry just blood. cod5 on the other hand you get limbs blown off.
sims online is another massive online game.
if you have satilite check g4 channel 210
attack of the show has a bunch of game ideas
i would try untold legends darkkingdom. for the ps3.

I would suggest Age of Empires 3. Involves a lot of strategy, but you can pick it up quickly. Involves intelligence, speed, and skill. My friends dad LOVES it, and im sure yours would too.

Yes AOE III is the perfect game for history and stuff your dad likes, it has cannons, ships, riflemens and all that good history stuff from the 1700s - 1800s

I agree with a lot of what is said here. Peggle, as many of you are aware, is one of my all time favorite games (eGO needs a Peggle division IMHO), and would be a good intro to puzzle games. However, puzzle games can get old fairly quick. I would ease him into games like Civilization, because the turn system is less daunting than a RTS, and the point and click interface is easy to figure out, while there is still enough depth to the game that it doesn't get old quickly.
