farcry 2 crashes at load screen

well i've had this problem for a while now, and I was wondering if you guys could help me. It was working fine at first, then after an update this started happening. this is using the steam version btw. today I ran the benchmark tool and it seemed to be working fine. I don't know if that is significant, not really good w/ this kind of stuff.

What do you mean by "crash"? Back to the desktop? Do you get a Dr. Watson error? Do you blue screen? Do you reboot? You can't play it at all? Do you get to the menu and try to start a game and then crash...?

Please describe what's happening in more detail....

well i hit launch on the steam menu, and it begins to load. Then once the load screen pops up the game crashes. That's it, no blue screen or anything. The game just shuts itself down before it has the chance to even start properly.

I would suggest trying to delete your local content and re-downloading the game. If this doesn't work then we know that it isn't just an error in some file.

PC is notorious for a huge amount of FC2 crashes at start-up. I thought there was a patch released for it though.

gabe, I tried doing that a while back, Didnt seem to help.
and berlin, I think something might have been released, but I have d/l'd all the new content that's been released so idk what to do.
