Need help with ram problem

So my system crashed from a BSOD from an Nvidia driver, so i rebooted, and it was in a boot loop with the same .sys file, i then tryed safe mode, failed, then i went to the dreaded reformating. i reformated, the velocity micro logo is still messed up, its missing chunks of pixels, and vista only reconizes 512 MB of ram, i played with the ram a little before i reformated as a last hope (didnt know it was a Nvidia problem). So now it wont boot up and it only reconizes 512MB of the 3 Gigs it came with. (yes i know there is a thread about this, but i beleve that mine is diffrent from that thread) So help me please, its winter break with no comp Q.Q.

Any who.. maybe run a memtest on your ram? see if theyre filled with errors? thats all i could come up with :\
 
Memory test for sure.... or pull one stick of ram at a time to see if the computer recognizes more than 512....
 
ill run a mem test, the extensive one, then i will check each stick of ram.
 
ran a mem test, reseated the 4 in a gig 512 gig 512 order and it seems to work, thank you all.
 
Correct you are, RAM slots are not paired next to each other, they are usually in an AB AB configuration :)
 
well, same problem, only it detects 1 Gig instead of 512, more help would be appreciated.
