Help/ BSoD -- Last one was ignored.

So, I get the BSoD after a while of playing games. Sometimes the Error is AMDK8.sys, and other times the error is IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL.

I have no idea what this means... any smart people out there that can open my mind to the issue ?

Off the top of my head this is most likely a resource conflict. Make sure to update all your drivers and bios. I am sure if it was a problem with the Bios it has been fixed. Also if you have too many components, extra hard drives, dvds, Tv tuners, try to take some out see if it fixes the problem.

OP, whenever I got the IRQL_LESS_OR_NOT_EQUAL, I had too many PCI devices. I had to move my TV card from the top PCI slot to the BOTTOM PCI slot to fix it. Try that.

thats wierd.... All i have is my SLi 8800's and a sound card....

Referring to your other thread, sorry I don't check the boards too often sometimes. Often I check them, and then again in a few days.

But the amdk8.sys is only installed with the cool and quite tech from amd. If there is nothing in the add/remove referring to cool and quite, look for an amd processor driver, that is what the amdk8.sys is part of otherwise.

Or if you are feeling really adventurous you can manually remove the file, but that might have un-intended side effects.

The file lives in the windows/system32 folder
Windows will default to using its own processor driver if it cant find the amd one. but just be sure to backup the file in case of some unforeseen problem.

It appears that there is more than one issue going on, but you never know for sure until you start fixing them one at a time, and then testing for results.

So, What you're saying is, Go into my sys.32 folder, removing the AMDK8.SYS and seeing what happens. If its bad, just put the file back ?

But before i do that i want you to know this ONLY happens when I am doin SLi. If my cards Are NOT in SLi, There is usually no problem....

Just a word of advice, perhaps create a parallel topic in the AMD customer Forums, i'd assume they may be able to hep you more directly than we can, since it is their product
