Guest Passes and YOU!

news_tf2_jv.png

DO NOT GIVE YOUR ACCOUNT TO ANYONE FOR ANY REASON!

There has recently been a rash of people complaining they got their Steam account hacked. The hacker uses an eGO friendly name and asks to borrow your account to play a game. He then gets your account and changes the password and email account. Then he uses your account to ask someone else for their Steam password to play a game he does not have. And now he is changing the password on the next account.......

Here is a HINT: offer a guest pass

I've only gotten one of those link things before, is that how this originally started?

I remember when I used to go on this one forum a while ago, and people were so readily available to give you their account and password when given false promises. Don't do it, people.

And if you don't have any guest passes left?!

No other choice but to give them my password.

Why would you give out your username and password anyway? If it was an eGO and he asks, I would say no, he threatens me by saying hes gonna kick me out of EdgeGamers, I would tell him to do it, I DARE YOU. Take a screenshot of your chat as proof. Done.

DONT GIVE YOUR ACCOUNT INFO AWAY TO ANYONE

is it really that hard to understand?

Oh btw, there was someone in the eGO steam group a month ago that made a phishing website that looked identical to the steam community website, he/she said "A friend has sent you a gift, please click on this link and sign in". I was dumb enough to fall for it, but I had no worries since I had all my cd-keys stashed away :3. Beware!

brocolli cream soup... its so hard to understand........ I dont get it. :P :P :P :P :P

Tell the hacker your password is getalife. =)

Yes, don't do it. Treat your account as if it's your Social Security Number. It's not worth losing it too. You can lose a lot your rep, stats, or who knows what be careful out there.

Like I have said earlier it's a shame that people still fall for this. Any company such as Steam will never ask for your password via an IM.

Yes Plese never give anyone your password through steam or steam groops or edgegamers website/members It could be bad to your acound if you have your ssn as and you giver it away say bye bye identity. Is it really hard to understand that? I have had 5 people hacked that the people who hacked their accounts tried for mine and i told them nop i dont give away usename and pass and I put them on my block list.

ps if you have someone that gives you a steamgroop link please Give that link to me and i will try and make edge gamers a list of updated usergroops not to join it and or make a program fr any edgeGamers member to block them from entering it later it may take me a few weeks to get it done and a few programmers with me that know c++ or c# and java.

Pm me if interested in helping me or pm me thoes steamgroops/websites

Wow, I guess even some smart people fall for scams. If it smells like a fish, it probably is. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Well, I feel sorry for anybody who got suckered by these guys. That would really suck to lose all my steam games.

And if you don't have any guest passes left?!

No other choice but to give them my password.

you deserve to have your acc. tooken away now. you never hand it out or tell any1. its ur life man or......ITS GAME OVER MAN!!! GAME OVER!!!!

b4 some one was trying to get my steam account by talking to me through my freind's list saying they were steam support and my account got vac banned but lucky for me i was playing in a sever when he said that

Scam Site, thenewsteamcommunity.tk, is now trying to scam users by saying:

The Steam Tournements

Sign up for free for the steam tournements to win many prices . It will be on CS 1.6 , CZ , CS:S , Death Match , Team Fortress and many other games .

Spelling and grammatical errors should be easily spotted by the experienced net surfer, but many users in eGO are younger so they may not notice things like this. It is ESSENTIAL that you DO NOT enter your password anywhere other that the Steam client itself, and do not give it to anyone. You are not required to give it to anyone so why would you? Be careful out there!

Never have-- Never will

Each of the Dweebs has his owen account.
Neither of the Dweebs knows anythng about the others Account.

yea this should go without saying.. if anyone ever askes you for your username and password.. its a scam... and dont even give your username.. all someone needs is your username.. passwords are not hard to crack... NEVER discuss your steam accout to ANYONE, EVER

These scammers are using Phishing / Social Engineering Techniques to get your account information.

The following is from wikipedia.com

Phishing:
In the field of computer security, phishing is the criminally fraudulent process of attempting to acquire sensitive information such as usernames, passwords and credit card details by masquerading as a trustworthy entity in an electronic communication. Communications purporting to be from popular social web sites (YouTube, Facebook, MySpace), auction sites (eBay), online banks (Wells Fargo, Bank of America, Chase), online payment processors (PayPal), or IT Administrators (Yahoo, ISPs, corporate) are commonly used to lure the unsuspecting. Phishing is typically carried out by e-mail or instant messaging,[1] and it often directs users to enter details at a fake website whose look and feel are almost identical to the legitimate one. Even when using server authentication it requires skill to detect that the website is fake. Phishing is an example of social engineering techniques used to fool users [2], and exploits the poor usability of current web security technologies [3]. Attempts to deal with the growing number of reported phishing incidents include legislation, user training, public awareness, and technical security measures.
Social Engineering:
Social engineering is the act of manipulating people into performing actions or divulging confidential information. While similar to a confidence trick or simple fraud, the term typically applies to trickery for information gathering or computer system access and in most cases the attacker never comes face-to-face with the victim.
