sdk cant find gameinfo.txt

hammer is looking in the wrong subdirectory how do i change where it looks for the gameinfo.txt?

on dedicated servers it is located in the root for the mod directory.

Where you see dod you can replace that w/ any mod.

i have the gameinfo.txt file i know where it is, the prolbem is that hammer is looking for it in j (which is a removeable drive) and it is in g : steam/steamapps /ice_hearted_killer/team fortress 2/ tf/gameinfo.txt
i wnat to know how to tell hammer to look in the right place

Ahhh.. you said wrong subdirectory... not wrong drive. Let me call somebody who might know.

Okay.. he's sleeping so I'll follow up w/ him when he's awake.

I did some quick reading and apparently hammer does not like directories w/ spaces in the name. Try setting you game install path in hammer to c:\progra~1\half-life...

If not other said deleting the SDK and redownloading it fixed the problem. Finally somebody said just copy the gameinfo.txt file to the same directory you use to compile your maps..

Lemme know if these work.

This is quite easy. Open up hammer and go to Tools>options> and change Game Directory to wherever your gameinfo.txt is.

i uninstaled and it was reinstalling but i need to fix my pc so il report back when i got it working again
