I know a lot of people like microsoft, and don't just grudgingly use Windows because videogames don't run as well on Linux, but this is a new low. A pay-per-use PC?
It's bad enough that you don't own your OS or software (you own a license for them. The product still belongs to the manufacture), but at least you own your hardware! With this you would own nothing, and in order to bill you, your computer use would be constantly monitored. Thanks, but no thanks!

World of Windows type subscription plans?

You call it low, I call it one hell of a business plan.

For the record, yes it is low, but if you look at it from the Microsoft side of things, if they roll that out they're looking at one hell of a lot more money. Plus you "omg microsuck moneygrab ololol" types can be happy that Linux will get more exposure.

Oh wow. This really is a new low. I'm one of those many people that "grudgingly use Windows because videogames don't run as well on Linux" (even though I have a Linux/Windows dual-boot system). This just seems like another attempted revival of already dead ideas, and it's just going to lower people's already low respect for Microsoft. The bottom line is: Microsoft has to improve its standards before anyone is going to ENJOY using their stuff, since everything they make almost always has bugs and gaping holes.

That is pretty lame. But look on the bright side: The more ppu computers they put out into circulation the more will be hacked & people will use for free. Even if they have the os as firmware instead of data on a hd its inevitable that someone will break the micro$haft stranglehold just like they did with vista that was "more secure" yet easier to crack than xp, lol

Just because they file a patent doesnt mean a product will ever be released...

anyone remember DIVX?? even if they do release a product im guessing that it will be so poorly received that it wont last long.
