wireless disconnecting when css opens

yea just as the title says, i decided to play some css after maybe a month or 2 of not playing it. however, when i open css, i notice that no servers are coming up, so i alt tab out to see that my wireless connection had just disconnected on its own, and i was able to reconnect. i then tried to restart steam and open css again, but again the wireless disconnects. wut could be causing this? my router recently got reset and i had to call someone to set it up for me, could that be y this is happening? i cant test whether or not it happens on other games cuz i can't install them due to some reasons not to be revealed >.> i also do not have access to the settings of the router or modem because i dont know the login info

i used to have a problem when i would search for servers my internet would randomly turn off, but it fixed itself i guess cuz it doesnt do that anymore

ok i found that if i just alt tab out and reconnect and then go back in it works again, but after an hr or 2 of playing i got disconnected by the internet again. much better, but i still would like to play without interruptions

lol i was gonna use wired but the phone jack had ripped wires so i couldnt move the modem here. any solutions? the wireless status also says that there are almost as many errors as packets received. for example, [ame]http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/dd81/maypoler/error.png[/ame]
any solution for that? if no, anything for my failed phone jack?

Your using Wireless B which is 11 Mbit/s, but if you were to use Wireless G it's up to 54 Mbit/s. You would most likely see a increase in performance in game by using wireless G if your router and computer support it. See the picture below.

Your using Wireless B which is 11 Mbit/s, but if you were to use Wireless G it's up to 54 Mbit/s. You would most likely see a increase in performance in game by using wireless G if your router and computer support it. See the picture below.

uh i dont have the liberty of getting any new wireless equipment. im only 16 and i dont have a job yet so i cant do anything about it. my router is a super old Linksys BEFW11S4 V.4. and yes i am using wireless internet through my router.

Changing the channel on the router may help. You can find this setting under basic or advanced wireless on your routers administration site.

umm i also would like some help on this problem which has been around since forever. when download files, the wireless status says i get 60 packets every round(i dont know the term if there is one so yea), but when i watch streaming videos such as on youtube and veoh i get 10-30, usually 10-20 tho. wut causes this downgrade in speed? if i can download at my normal crap speed, y does watching streaming videos download slower?

P.S. my wireless equipment is about 4-5 yrs old. does age degrade the strength?

ok 1 wireless= bad for gaming......any 1 can steal your internet,plus further u are away from signal the worse it gets.walls wireing in a house, wireless phones can all disrupt a signal.Plus if you have dsl,,,mmmmmmmm,DSL= direct suck line..now with economy taking a dive lots of ppl are switching to DSl..
The more ppl in your hood that have DSL and are online the worse your connection will be.
reason your getting less packets is cause you dont have info of 30 or so ppl running around shooting at you,your watching a vid not a lot of packets there.
and yes kills it.not in terms of wornout,but in terms of technology.netcodes get reconstructed for faster better smoother game play.
and theres nothing you can do about making it better.technology moves forward.+ your router just dont have the speed needed.11mbits is not good fair maybe. and as for login iinfo,all u have to do is paste this 192.168.1.1 ,put in browers.it will connect to linksye site and default password is admin and login is admin

Because your trying to stream video over a 11Mbit connection when using Wireless B. Barrow a Wireless G router for a hour from a friend and see how it compares.

sry for asking so many questions, but ive read that wireless n can go from 300 Mbs to 600 Mbs max, but if i bought that, i think there would be a problem, because my computer that is plugged right into the modem says 100 Mbs constanly, so would that mean my wireless connection would be 3 times faster than being plugged into the modem? that cant be possible..

Yes you are correct you are going to be limited by your modem speed, but let me tell you that you are using no where near the 100Mbs that it says. yea it was a good explanation. but i still have all wireless B equipment, which means even if i got wireless G i would have to get a wireless card for it. i may wait until later this year, which ive read is when wireless N is coming out officially. by the last 3-4 months of this year, i will have a job already, so i can fund myself for computer things. i wanna spoil myself if i do get new stuff, cuz the upgrade has long been overdue. thanks for helping me out. if i have anymore questions ill post here again
