So i am trying to install my new 9800gt card in a gateway, it has an nvidia mother board, But the card isn't getting recognized once i put it in the pci-e slot and won't let me put on the drivers but it still works to display the desktop. I've tried to turn off the onboard video but don't believe their is a switch for it in the Bios. I was thinking that maybe the PCI-E port isn't 2.0 but the box says it should work with PCI-E and PCI-E 2.0. If anyone has some suggestions on whats wrong i would love to try em out. thanks and hope to get back asap once this problem is fixed

1st off, check to make sure you have the latest driver by going to the device manager area. If not, then follow the below steps:
Take out your new card.
Get the old card working. (if you have an old card)
Go to device manager. (start, control panel, system, hardware, device manager)
Disable the onboard.
Shut down.
Put your new card in the PCI-E slot.
Boot up and enter the bios setup menu.
Make sure in there the onboard IS NOT listed to boot first.
Reboot and when it comes up, then load your new drivers.
Take out your new card.
Get the old card working. (if you have an old card)

Put your new card in the PCI-E slot.
Boot up and enter the bios setup menu.
