Glad you've started the thread :) Any input yourself? :p I think somewhere deep within the FL private forums (and I mean DEEP, since I've not been a member for a long time) there might be a tutorial on sniping on Avalanche... If a former FL member could check that out, that'd be awesome.

I usually go on Donner but I am a little bit familiar with Avalanche.

I think the allies need to make a push for church, allies apartments, and axis apartments.

I need to play on the server a little bit more I think before I can contribute more.

I find it easier to cap flags on Ava, as opposed to Donner. Especially the Allied second flag. But I get killed more often on Ava (who would have thought THAT possible??).

We should do a breakdown not only by team, but also by weapon... Because I know that it's totally different running as an assault on Ava, than it is setting up an MG..

Tip one: cook a grenade for the distance you want. it's a pretty big map, well, to me it is.
Tip two: if you want to suicide nade, get as close a bunch of the enemy as you can. It works and kind of helps the team:D

I dont really have all that many strategies for ava but here we go.

Axis - Good sniper spot in the dark room, i guess it is called the wine celler. It is looking over the allied sniper window and the middle flag.

From the spawn you can go to the balcony that goes to the church. It is typically an easy way to get to the church rather than going through the entrance passed the middle flag. Most of you should know this, but for those who dont, there you go. Also, theres plenty of good spots to stay in the church to kill people.

Allies - You can go on top of that little ledge or balcony thats above the 4th flag...your second flag....if you jump out of the window. Very good mg spot, sniper is not bad too there, but typically mg would be best.

You can get all the way to the axis second through buildings where typically you wont run into too many people. After taking second, go into that dark wine cellar room and you can get the axis first from behind, as long as your sneaky and smart.

Seconded.

Looking at it from the Allies side, it would be difficult to capture the last flag easily.

From my experience, I have seen the allies come through the wine cellar and take the last flag and, through sheer numbers and force, go under the archway and directly go for the flag.

Either way the allies would have to clear out the fountain area and the second axis flag.

I think a good idea is to keep pressure on the church and allies apartments.

I'm probably going to regret this...

How to win the Match as Allies...

From the start prepare to eliminate the MG(s) that set up above the Axis Second and storm a majority of your troops into the apartments, allowing you to flank the center from above. Ensure that 1 MG and 1 Sniper join you in apartments as they will be needed to help push and hold your position. Once the MG(s) at the Axis Second are down, you can rush your few troops from the Allies Second area, allowing a two-pronged attack on the Fountain.

The other Allies Sniper and MG should be around the Allies Second. There are various locations for both to be set up, but the Sniper should stay crouched or standing, not prone, keeping mobility up to respond to enemy snipers/mgs. The MG may or may not set up to watch the sandbags at the corner (not watching the sandbags allows Axis to bypass the MG fire and rush into Apartments.) If this is the case, one Allies assault/support should be left to watch the lower entrance to apartments until the Fountain is secured.

The Sniper who went apartments should aim toward Church Top, Above Axis Second, Top of Archway, Bottom of Archway, V-Crack, Double Windows, preferably in that order of focus.

The Sniper may have to leave the rooftops and head to the bottom floor as some Axis MGs set up in positions to view the Axis Second from the archway, which can not be targeted from the roofs.

This is why it is important to send a sole scout out to try and capture the Axis Second at the same time your Apartment MG sets up in the crack above the Axis Second. Once that is secure, the rest of the troops can rain upon the Fountain from the multitude of angles now at your disposition, with the MG covering the Axis Second, you can focus fire on the Church Top, Archway, and supressing fire on the double-windows.

Once you have control of the Fountain and Axis Second, it comes time to lockdown the Church. Allies troops should move to prevent a rush of troops coming from wine cellar, church, or from the archway. The Sniper in Apartments should focus attention on the church top and the top of the archway (with the archway being the 99% attention). You need to stall for time as the Sniper and MG who were at the Allies second now move up. The MG should set up to stare down the archway as the Sniper proceeds to the Church to help clear out any camping MGs. The Sniper will need grenade cover to allow time to get the shot off without getting killed by an STG before the bullet finds its way to the head of the MGer. With reinforcements being primarily cut off by the sniper watching the archway top, once the MG in church is down its nothing more than a firesale. Tada, you now control Church, Fountain, and Apartments.

Now here comes the tough part...team work. You need to push the top of the archway and wine cellar hard while you have Support troops keep the Axis honest below the archway. You should be able to take the wine cellar in due time, but ensure they you do not overextend yourself. If many of your comrades die, secure the location and prevent the enemy from getting past you until your allies return. Once the wine cellar is taken troops no longer need to be in Church. Yayyy you now control Church, Fountain, Wine Cellar, and Axis Second.

Now comes for the bloodshed part. The Sniper along with the Rocket should focus on turning that corner of the archway to the Axis First along with 2-3 other Allies Support/Assault. 3-4 Support/Assault should hold the wine cellar, leaving the others to rush into the enemy base.

The enemy has two choices with their MGs now, post up at first or watch the wine cellar exit. Posting only one MG at the Axis First will leave it vulnerable to the Sniper/Rocket turning the corner where posting both at the Axis First will leave their rear door vulnerable to a swarm of Assault/Support Allies.

Now comes the toughest part...once the Axis MGs/Snipers are no longer between you and the flag...step on the flag and its going to be a bloodbath as all the Axis Troops start flooding towards you. 1-2 Allies should watch the hallway creating a chokepoint to buy flag cap time. Tada you win!!!

*If you think I missed some kind of detail or something is confusing let me know and i'll do my best to explain.

for allies.... 1 good sniper and a few people who have guts to sacrifice themselves for blocks. take mgs down first and don't throw smoke in worthless areas.

axis is a lot more simple.. keeping mgs up and flooding apts.

i can't stand people saying the map is axis favored, quite frankly it isn't.

To win in AVA as Allies, in simple terms: divide the team in squads of about 4 ppl.
one squad (assault & support) gets the apts, and another the church.
meanwhile snipers & MGs set up, and the rest of the players support those, where needed.
When apts are secure, everybody moves up, an MG sets up in the apts, a squad caps the 4th flag (watch for nades), and the supporting players try to rush the middle (church also needs to be secured).

from there on its as simple as defending the 4th and rushing the 5th. for this the snipers and MG have to do their job guarding the vcrack, top of the arch, double windows and cellar.

On the last rush up the hill I find it useful (some may differ) to throw a smoke up the hill where the axis set up their MGs, (NOT where you are, as you won't be able to see and the MGs will get you when you come out of the smoke). If you throw the smoke at THEM, they can't see you but you can run up the hill... and when the smoke clears you are very close to the flag and the axis (most of the time) have no idea what happened.

One last thing... RUSH!! don't be afraid to get killed. guess what? YOU ARE GOING TO GET KILLED!! nobody survives a whole round without dying, so go out there and try to get as many as you can before dying.

As Allies, once you have fountain send about 1/4 of your force, (half assault, half support) Through the wine cellar and up into their buildings, prevent them from getting out and sniping your reinforcements as you move up through the street. send 2 or 3 to the Axis second, and have 1/4 go up through arch to their last, and have the remaining of your force split between church and defending the points. That's what we did during scrims in my DoD clan.

All axis have to do is camp with MG and Sniper and rush with assault.
Allied got the though mission.. they have to capture fountain as fast as possible when the round starts!

On the Allies side i think it would be better to keep pushing the church instead of the apartments.... bcuz if you push the apartments and you got out of the apartments you got nowhere to go.... but on church, you can probably set up an MG on a far distance from their 1st flag.... so pushing the church would be the best for allies....

For the AXIS pushing the apartments would be the same thing.... BUT they also need to watch their 1st flag or it will be taken from them.....

You don't need to be the first to capture the fountain, its simply a morale issue. If you are confident you are able to take fountain then its not a big deal when it gets captured by the axis. The only reason to run in and stop it is if you can kill 2:1 ratio running in guns blazing or with grenades, which are the typical reasons people run in. Running in for the block without being able to kill anyone is just a waste of respawn time.

The misconception is that pushing church right off the bat is much tougher than you need to make it. Trying to push straight away implies that you already took control of everything else because otherwise the axis can easily cut off reinforcements into church and storm over/under into church and clear it out and as you kill the axis and they keep coming back, you die and you cant make it back for a good 2-3 more lives.

Now see, the problem with church for the allies is that the axis sets up MG's covering it either from the second axis or right up against the Allies apartments in the brushes.

The solution is simple though, just nade it but that also seems difficult.
