Do you care, not care, or immediately mute them?

Anyone that's played with me for about five minutes know I talk a lot. xd I can't help it. :( I like spreading the joy.

I'm only asking this because if it turns out everyone hates it, I'll just shut up.

There is only one person I immediately mute and its not you Phoenix. I don't mind people that talk as long as it pertains to the game or something funny.

Yeah i get told to shut up alot ;p lol I love to talk it makes the game that much funner

As long as you're not endlessly spamming the mic, nobody should be muting you. There's nothing wrong with a little chatting while you're playing. I myself know that I like to whoop and holler like some kind of cowboy on occasion. :-P

If it was a problem, an admin would have muted and probably kicked you. Since they didn't (im guessing) then your ok :)

part of the reason

part of the reason i gave up my admin was so i could mute people and not have to listen to them. you aren't supposed to do that if you are an admin. no admin, less blabber i gotta listen to, happier i am :)

seriously though, i don't have a problem with in game chatter as long as it mostly pertains to strategy and what not. when i gotta hear a bunch of chit chat like i'm still in the lunchroom in high school i gotta hit the mute button.

it is nothing personal but i like it quiet while i'm doing my killing.

I don't mind the talk most of the time. There was only one time I remember muting someone while playing on eGo servers. They were not members. It was non stop babbling, yelling, and singing. I think an admin came on later and it stopped. I have a heavy mute button finger on other servers though. I have one person in particular who I think wedges something in his talk key so it never stops.

I don't talk a lot because my computer is in a public area of the house and it gets me a lot of strange looks from the wife when all of a sudden I yell Spy-engie!

Mic chatter should be limited to in-game things only. You get a warning, then you get a mute.

Anyone who's played with me knows I'm a talker. Or can be. When I see a Lvl 3 or see a sticky trap, I'm going to tell the rest of my team! It's immensely frustrating to me to be killed by, say a sentry gun, respawn, I tell everyone on voice, and then I hear, "Oh, that's right there's a sentry gun there."

Well, speak up!

Every now and then I get a little self-conscious about it so I shutup.

I talk a lot too. I agree that it makes the game funner that way.

Also, to anyone who reads this post, if I get on your nerves, just tell me to shut up. I won't be offended. :p

Voided is pretty talkative, but I never mute him. While I agree that mic usage should primarily be limited to game discussion, a little minor chatter never hurt. It really comes down to whether or not your chatter is interfering with the ability of your team to hear what they need to hear. If someone is constantly talking it can block people's ability to hear the in-game announcer or vital updates on enemy movement. In such cases, I give the player one warning then a mute.

Singing over the mic gets an even faster mute. After I warn, they have like one second to stop.

As long as it is about the game, I am pretty relaxed about it,
if they will play music, start talking about their lives or something completely crazy like pyro's having sisters and fathers and uncles and what they are like (what actually happened) then it is a warn, then do it again, it is muted.

some people have a very annoying voice, but it is not a crime or anything if the players have a problem against something like that, they can mute them theirselves in options.

PW, I've played with you a few times and yes you do talk alot. Most of the time it isnt a problem because you can be pretty funny, BUT, there have been a few times you and whoever else will start talking about something that has nothing to do with the game or anything and you guys go ON AND ON about it. that is the only time its seems to be a problem because it will cause other people to start complaining. they want to play and not listen to 2 people talk about how they watched Lord of the rings 27 times in 3 days (bad example, but you get my meaning)

to sum it up, talk away but try and keep it game related as best as you can. :P

Mic chatter should be limited to in-game things only. You get a warning, then you get a mute.

It's generally left up to the admins discretion on the server as to when it gets to be too much, but if you're that strict about it, then we have a problem.

If people are playing, having a good time, and somebody's not overly annoying, then let them be. Warnings for something as minor as idle chatter can be more disruptive to the server than the chatter itself. Remember, we're here to play and have fun first, admin second.

Locking thread as I think it's served it's purpose.
