Hello Fellow EdgeGamers Organization Community Members,

Im jdubz from the Call of Duty 4 Division and I just wanna let everyone know about a really big gaming event here in Texas called QuakeCon.

QuakeCon is a 3,000 BYOC (Bring Your Own Computer) LAN down here in Dallas Texas. It runs during the month of August, and this year it will be from August 13th-16th. It has always been the highlight of my summer, continually the best week of summer for 2 years. This will be my third year attending.

QuakeCon is competely funded by Sponsors and by id Software, the creaters of the Doom and Quake series. The only official servers are for id Software games, but many people and some companies bring servers along with them and host them at the event, while others will host servers off their machines.

TF2 and COD4 were extremely big at the event, and so was CSS. You could find people to play for any game, all you had to do was advertise your server in the DC++ Chatroom.

One of my favorite things was the giveaways. Major companies like NVIDIA and ATI were there giving away GFX Cards. They also gave away so many tshirts its not even funny.

Im going again this year, along with my friend. We have a hotel room @ the Hilton Anatole ( The Hotel where the event is being held ). If anyone is interested in going just check out ....

Many people come from different countries...

Also, they have a ride board on the QuakeCon site, where you can hitch a ride from people who advertise for it.

Im going to be proudly wearing my =(eG)= tag, but Im also going to try and bring new members to the Community. I feel this event will bring with it alot of growth. They had so many TF2 and COD4 servers at the event.

Pff, but there aren't any prizes, are there?
I wouldn't want to pay money to go to Texas, for a big gaming event, and burn about $1,000+.

There are prizes, but they only hold tournaments for Quake and Doom games because the people who fund the event, and put millions of dollars into this, are extremely nice and the QuakeCon staff just does it out of respect.

Top Prizes for the Quake Live tournaments are like 10,000 Dollars.

I know there are people in the clan who live in Texas. If you go, Im serious, you wont regret it.

my friend went last year, dont have the money to drive there again but he won a motherboard and a razor mouse pad ( the thing is the size of a t.v. tray )

Nah, I was the same way last summer, but don't worry about it. While it is fun, there are downsides too.

I am going again this year, and I strongly encourage all of you to volunteer with me, as the pre-setup and wire-crimping groups (crimpnation) were really fun. They also give out prizes after Quakecon is over to volunteers!
