Great Time last nite and AFK's!?

I hadn't been on the eGO serves in a while but I have to say that a most of the time on there last night was pretty damn awesome, a lot of coordination and minimal asshats. While I can't remember the admins name he was actually pretty coordinated and surprisingly, got ppl to do snickers bars, whether the results were good or bad, just having ppl actually try something makes it all worth it.

I would like to mention something that seems to plague a lot of servers and they are the dreaded AFKs. I hate them nearly as much as spawn campers. And while your admin did take care of one very professionally I did notice there seems to be quite a few sitting in the "unassigned" area for extended periods of time. I can understand keeping them in there where there are not a whole of ppl actually playing to help get more in there, but the problem I see is when you have 27 ppl actually playing and 5 AFKs sitting in "unassigned" that means there are 5 ppl out there that can't play on your server because of them. I'm not referring to those trying to figure out what class they want but those that never seem to join and stay there the entire map. I frustrates me and it's not my server only because I know ppl are out there looking for a good game. I don't have an actual solution other than for admins to hit 'TAB' once in a while. if they don't already do so, and make a mental note of who is sitting there and if they are still eating up space after 5 minutes, kick 'em.

For the life of me I'll never understand why someone would start up INS, join a server, SELECT A CLASS, then not play. If someone knows why ppl do this I'd surely like to know.

This stands as a reminder. Admins, please kick afk's when your server is full. 32/32 means look for afk's. If the server is not full, go have fun!

Yeah.. the same problem was there today, one of my homies cound't join coz of some afk guys.. :-/

But if im on insurgents and theres a admin on marine, and there's a dude afk and my homie can't get in, shall I just write in the chat to the admin ? Or do we do somethin specialt

I know this is a problem and were are working on solving this problem as fast as we can. Some plug-ins dont work and were trying our best with what we have. We are also aware that sprays are a major problem during certain hours of the day. As said before, the plug-in does not work and we are working very diligently to fix these problems.

Rothgar makes a sourcemod plugin that works with INS. You can move players to spec then kick, or just move players or spec, or kick right from afk. You can set the timer it works on, and it warns people every 5 seconds the last 30, in case they are just on the phone etc.

People go away for number of reasons i assume...from people coming to your door or phone calls, or alt/tabbing out to do something and end up getting caught up...It happens to me even.

The downside of running any plug in i would see, is having a timer created on the server checking every player for xx seconds etc, might add stress(if the server is already under high loads). I've never looked into rothgar's afk plugin causing load on my cpu/memory, but i did test it with him for HOURS on one of my servers with the help of admins and others...he did/does spend time upgrading/answering questions/requests/etc, and will work with you i'm sure if you have specfic requests/features/etc

I played on eGO and was banned for a week or so cuz i was afk in marine spawn cuz my friend called me up. was pretty pissed but i understand cuz it was a busy night. in other words, give afk guys a freaking warning and dont ban em!

How can an admin warn an AFK when he is AFK??? All you have to do in most cases is just go to spectate. The problem with being AFK, besides not helping your team, is that you may be taking up a class that is desperately needed. OR if you know you're going to be AFK, tell anyone with the e/eG/eGO tag just so they know. Cause if a lowly pubber like me sees you just sitting in one spot for an extended period of time, especially as a class someone wants, I WILL call you out. Being AFK for a bathroom break or drink/snack retrieval is fine but if you're going to make a 7 course meal or run to your friends a apartment so you can drop a steamer in his bowl, then either leave the server or spec. simple.

As for the ban, if you didn't agree with it, you should have come here and questioned it during the course of it. I've found that even for a ban, all the Admins are very reasonable and will openly discuss the situation to resolve it. The last thing they want are a bunch of ppl pissed off and not wanting to play on their server, but at the same time they have to maintain some sort of order to keep it enjoyable for all.

You wouldn't get banned for being AFK, only kicked, and not for breaking a rule, it's just to make room. If you are unfairly banned or don't know why you were banned, put up a post in the Contest Ban forum. When you post there, one of the fields is your steam id so that they can look up why you were banned. Maybe it was for a different reason than you thought, maybe you are thinking of a different server.

On 8:20 EST December 11 - you were seen in game as =(eGO)= nogoodnamesleft. You were asked 3 different times if you had eGO admin? You never answered. So you were banned for 1 week - admin impersonation.

You were not banned for being AFK.

Wow, 1 week ban for impersonation, I'd say he got off easy......I feel a bit foolish, disregard everything I said, get a sharpie marker and write "nogoodnamesleft is a perpetual liar" on your forehead!
