Mike Portnoy.

Before anyone comments, YOU CAN NOT HAVE TOO MANY CYMBALS.

Yoshiki Hayashi, X-Japan.

He's not about fancy speed and technique, but pure emotion, in my opinion, the best drummer.

The Rev from Avenged Sevenfold

Awesome skill and very technically inclined :P Oh and you gotta love the double pedal skillz :D

I gotta agree with FrazarMan though, Neil Peart is awesome :D And so is the Dragonforce drummer (forgotten his name at the moment XD)

Aarandorf

Beast and the Harlot, right?

You know what the call a guy that hangs out with a bunch of musicians?

The Drummer.

I give you Terry Bozzio.

How about Alex Van Halen? Hot for Teacher is just something special..
Nickelback's drummer is decent too imo.

I also like Travis Barker, not by any means the best drummer, but I like his remixes, for example

Low - Originally done by Flo-Rida

and

Crank That (Soulja Boy) - Originally done by, obviously, Soulja Boy

Dragonforce is way too repetitive. Sure, he can play really fast and clean, but take away the guitars and stuff, and most songs will sound the same, like he's just hitting stuff.

Neil Peart is good, but in my opinion, he's a little overrated. Not saying he's bad, just not my favorite.

Mike Portnoy is a great drummer, he isn't all about speed, and his style really fits well with the music.

The Rev is pretty good too. I believe it was Neil Peart who called him one of the next best drummers.

Terry Bozzio is pretty crazy with all of his drums and stuff, and he is very melodical, but not my kind of music.

I personally don't have a favorite drummer, different drummers are better in different styles. If you like the groovier drummers, Steve Gadd, Vinnie Colaiuta, and Dave Weckl are great. Their [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ln6b_nBM-V8"]trio[/ame] is amazing.

For pure skill, I'm going to have to go with Thomas Lang or Virgil Donati.

Well, Bozzio can swing too. You're into the fusion but not into Zappa J Glick? At least that's what I gather from Bozzio not being your type of music. Vinnie Colaiuta played with Zappa for a while in the late 70's - early 80's. As far as fusion drummers, I've always been a huge fan of Billy Cobham. Love the late 70's line up he had with Scofield, Alfonso Johnson, and George Duke (another Zappa alum). This is by far my favorite fusion lick of all time.
