Fallout 3 or COD 5

Which do you prefer?

I have the money right now to buy one game. I enjoy both rpg's and shooters, I have COD 4 for pc and for the 360, and I've never played the Fallout series, but i like the idea of it.

Also just realized Red Alert just came out a bit ago and I love RTS' but i ahvent played much of that series. Any input on that would be helpful too.
Which game do you guys recommend?

Fallout 3 most definitely. I've spent at least 40 hours on it with 2 characters and I am not even thinking of stopping. Worth every cent.

There's a lot to do and see in Fallout so replay should be fine.

I played the game to max level, then immediatly started another character and found new and interesting things. That was because in 20 levels my first character hadn't been everywhere and done everything. AND new downloadable content will be coming out soon. WELL WORTH THE MONEY.

I'm also playing COD World-at-War and find it like a birthday cake...nice to eat but not food to live on. It is fun getting ranks, and acces to new weapons...but there are powerlevel servers where you can rank fast... so there's no real accomplishment. A good eGO DOD server makes WAW look like silly kid stuff.

Thanks for your response Foo fighter, thats what i was afraid of with WaW. Im leaning more towards Fallout 3, simply because I haven't heard anyone say anything bad about it.
 
Fallout 3 is a good game. You wouldn't go wrong getting it. Just because you brought it up, there are some bad things about it, mainly with the story and the combat system. VATS (A slow motion targeting system) is fun to use but the combat is very stiff. And if you do get it, I recommend you don't even pay attention to the main quest storyline. It is just awful. Still, lots of replayability, and an all round great game.
 
Thanks for the suggestions Toasted, I did end up getting it and its downloading now. Hopefully the side story makes up for teh main story not being great.
 
Yeah, I played both and liked fallout way more. I can tell you fallout 3 is a great intro to the series for new people, but a lot of people I know who played the old games didn't like it. I loved it, but the main story was rather weak. The side quests are fun, and there are so many ways to play the game that it has lots of replay value.

I didn't like CoDWaW much, after playing CoD4 I just found it weak. Things seemed a lot less challenging, and it just didn't have those "oh wow" moments.
 
you should deff get fallout 3 & if you get a chance walmart usually carries fallout 1 & 2 for $10 in the cheapo section & even though theyre older than dirt, theyre a blast
 
Thanks guys, I got fallout 3 via Steam and it just downloaded so im gonna go play some :) Thanks for all your help.
 
I would go for Fallout.
Much more single gameplay and CoD falls to it's mediocrity.

Heh, I was about 20 hours into the game, and my friend asked me where I was in the story. At that point I had only completed 4 out of 11 of the main quests in the game. I was so focused on exploring and doing sidequests, that I hadn't even realized that I was barely into the story (which I have no complaints about, by the way).

Basically, there's a ton to do in the game. A good example of this is the fact that there are more achievements for sidequests than there are for the main ones, and that doesn't even cover all of the quests. Added to that, you also have a lot of locations that don't necessarily have quests themselves, but still add to the story. Then, of course, there are the multiple ways you can complete each quest.

Good game. I can definitely see myself giving it more than one playthrough, especially with the DLC coming out in a couple weeks.

Do you know what the plans are for DLC? I haven't heard much about it. Like I need another excuse to play it though...
 
The CoD5 singleplayer campaign is epic, but very short compared to how long and awesome Fallout 3 is. I prefer CoD4 multiplayer anyway, so my vote is for Fallout 3. Just don't rush Fallout 3, go exploring -- the main storyline isn't extremely long.
