When I play heavy my criticals don't make any damage at all.
Not in long or short distance. What causes this and more importantlly: is there any way to fix this. As you can imagine it is quite annoying.

I've noticed this a few times - Your bullets turn blue or whatever, but it doesn't pop up *CRITICAL* or whatever? I think its just a glitch, and the bullets aren't ACTUALLY supposed to be crit.

That's what I thought first but it makes that crit sound too.

yeah I actually played as heavy a few times recently and noticed it too
I assumed its just cause they all missed at mid range, cause its really only a few seconds of crit and the bullets have a pretty wide spread

but its not like crits don't work at all, I could still mow down quite a few enemies when crits do land

but now that I think about it it is kind of weird...

heavy crits are hard to aim at a distance... but at close range it should work have it all the time that heavycrits miss on a distance

They're hiding under the bed.

Seriously, though, I never noticed this before...

Primarily because I'm scout, but still. I would have felt a few, you know?

Got it...

*not to self.. Look for Jorzonater as a heavy ingame so I can get an easy kill.*

happens to me alot as well, sometimes I have, as a sniper, shot some guy in the head, no crit. Shot another guy in teh crotch and got a headshot =/ I think Valve may have screwed up crits...

I've never had a problem with crit glitches.
Then again, I never play Heavy. I'm always on the receiving end of crit bullets. :p

As for the heavy/crit issue--When you have the crits, to get the critical hits words to come up, i think you need to hit the guy with multiple bullets, because its not just one critical shot, its tons and tons. When I'm heavy and get crits, the crits sign doesnt show up until I've nailed the guy with quite a few bullets.

Valve seems to have it right to me.....
Don't know about you but I would think a shot to the head is way less critical then a shot to the nutz.

Yeah. Crits take affect after i think 5-15 bullets hit the guy, maybe more.
Because up close, my heavy crits always take affect a second or two after the noise.

You know, sometimes I notice this myself, but as Soldier. I think it's simply a lag discrepancy between client and server, to where client thinks it's a crit, but server does not. I can remember several instances where I've had a rocket that looks like a crit smash into someone and not kill them, without making any sort of crit strike noise. Also, I have cases where a rocket will fly out and appear normal, but make the crit noise, and strike as normal. Never had the server turn a normal rocket into an actual crit, though, sadly. :P

There is a problem with the critical hit system in TF2, the pyro and heavy see the most "fake crits" in the game because of their continuous firing weapons, sparkly projectiles/flame, maybe sounds, but they're not crits. The pyro even goes far enough that when they let go of the trigger it might still shoot fake crit fire until they shoot again. In the end you're the only one that sees these fake crits while they see normal bullets and fire everywhere.

You still get real ones, but your normal shots might glitch out every now and then to appear to be crits.

Thats the same for me
