This is what I've been planning on buying this year. I've made some changes (well a lot of them)

Get an 850 - 1000w power supply.

Don't get 8 gigs of ram, get 4. Unless you like using a broken 64 bit operating system. And good luck finding drivers for the sound card on a 64 bit OS (I have heard a lot of issues with Creative and 64bit drivers)

Get a drive to hold your operating system on it - I suggest a Western Digital Velociraptor. It will be MUCH faster.

Don't get the G9, get an MX Revolution :D

How much is that case? If a Cooler Master Stacker is cheaper, grab one, unless, of course, you prefer the looks.

Don't mess with a Q9650, get a Q6600 and overclock :) Mine goes to 3.6GHz easy, even clocked it at 4.6GHz and it didn't die :P

I'm not a big fan of the X-Fi chip, but then again, neither is any other audiophile. I hope you like :\

And keyboard...I'd get the G11, as it's blue, and the LCD isn't that much to miss.
 
you do know there is nothing special about anything with Fatal1ty in it.other than your paying about 75 to 100$$more for that name....your wasting your $$$$$$ buying anything with the Fatal1ty name.

Quoted for truth. Don't be suckered into the lame names. No one will be impressed and you'll be kicking yourself because you could have spent that extra $200 on games to play :P
 
Get two of the Western Digital VelociRaptor 300GB and go RAID 0.

8 GB of RAM works fine for me and Vista 64.

Creative's does have better drivers (finally!) for 64bit OS's and if you turn on acceleration and turn off any effects you should be good.

I would have to agree that 700W is too low for that build - get something in the 1000W range and make sure it is 80+.
 
Check if anything is bad but leave the Fatal1ty motherboard - I've been using the Fatal1ty AN8 for like 3 years and it never failed me. It's working better than most of the motherboards my friends have.

Then again, they're only interested in playing the games, they don't care about their machine.
 
Abits an8 is the same as the Fatal1ty an8..accept you pay more for the name...
its all the same the x-fi your paying 50 more for a plastic cover that says Fatal1ty on it. dont beleave look it up..well i all ready did.here the x-fi titanium specs

I would recommend avoiding a cordless mouse for gaming unless it is bluetooth. A typical RF connection cannot support high DPI resolutions so it is no different than a run of the mill corded mouse as far as precision goes. Just my two cents.
 
Well it's either the MX Revolution or the G9. There's no difference in the prices but the MX Revolution seems better and a lot of people I know recommend it for gaming. I'm gonna have to check it out myself.
 
OK so I changed it with an ASUS Striker II Formula LGA 775 and it should cost about the same.
