Need help Installtion with windows xp and ubuntu

Ok when i try to install windows xp 64bi it failed it got stuck every time my 500gb wont get noticed when i install on windows xp. So i tryd to install Ubuntu and iget Buffer I/O error on device fd0, logical block 0
hdc: Drive not ready for command

Please help i dont know what to do ! and my system is not even a month old the specs:

AMD phenom x4 9600 Agena
2gbs ddr2 1066mhz
9800gt
700 watts
WD 500gb
then some 70gb HD
both sata
IDE Sony drive

You should have a local disk for Ubuntu only that the XP won't recognize.
