when i go to quit dod s, i get an error that says gameoverlayui.exe
i have to go to task manager to get it off my sreen
can someone help?

ok well first off, i was looking up on google what it was. Its the overlay that you have when you would push Shift+Tab that gives you the community and such.

As for finding a solution to it (i have never had the problem myself, so i dont know) but i cant seem to find anything having to deal with why it stays on. I will continue to look and if i find anything, ill just hit you up on steam friends

goomba some people have reported that gameoverlayui.exe has been disguised as spyware on their computers. I would highly recommend downloading, running, and scanning your computer with two programs.

also update your windows defender definitions and do a full scan with that as well. Hope this clears it up if it really is spyware.

sorry for double post here but it sounds like it might be a firewall issue. what sort of firewall/firewalls do you have goomba?

by the way gameoverlayui.exe is steam's game overlay program. Disabling it in task manager disables the shift+tab function and in game friends list stuff.

You are lucky it only happens when you close the game. For most people it happens when they start up the game.

Wow all of you guys... It's actually part of Steam. roflmao I thought it was common knowledge

On your Friends list, go into the Settings (View menu)

Then, on the In-Game tab, turn off the Steam In-game Overlay.

You should be all set, but you can't use in-game. That would require a reinstall of Steam.
