Keyboard types odd things..

Ok, so i have had this computer since the christmas of 2007 (bout a year)
a few months ago when playing online games it would replace different key presses as french characters or something else that shouldn't be.

EX: / would be ? and if i held shift it would be ? , also when i type @ it ends up as quotations (REALLY BAD since without it i cant type in Admin chat) but thats not all of the things its usually the NON letter keys (/.';[]-= and all numbers used with shift, !@#$%^&*( )

Some specs that may be related..

OS : 32-Bit Vista
Keyboard : Enhanced multimedia PS/2 Keyboard
Games i play: TF2, CoD4, CS:S, L4D (happens in all of those, they are all run through steam)

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated and if you need more info just post here or get me on steam.. thank you.

Try buying a really cheap Wal-Mart type keyboard, and see what you get.

i had this problem for the LONGEST time but i know how to fix it hear we GO : look at you bar at the bottom around the right side and you should see a keyboard right click on it and you will probably see 2 or 3 settings del all of them but US standard or what ever it is and that should fix your problems cause it did for me hope you understand what im trying to say

@ AW , i have a few different keyboards around the house, i have tried a few and i have tried this one with my older computer.. it does not do what it does on my newer one.

@ Evil , I know what you are saying, I have seen that keyboard icon before.. but its not there anymore. Do you know where i may find it other then down there?

Does your Keyboard need drivers?
If so, are they installed and working correctly?

It has nothing to do with drivers or anything, it's only if you set your keyboard to Canadian layout. (I believe.) If you press a certain hotkey, it changes from the English to French keyboard setting. Go into Control Panel > Language/Regional Options, and try setting it to US, or English only.

I think i may have solved it.. it was a mix of Evil and Existence's suggestion.. i went into the region/lang settings to keyboard setup.. deleted the layout for "canadian french" and "canadian bilinual" (when clicked it showed the keys that changed on the layout) so hopefully that will fix it.

ya man i know how you feal being in the middle of admining and i cant use @ anymore OMG i was so mad i made a bind to pop it up lol
