Power Supply Question

I buyed a new Jewel Power Supply 350 W because the problem i had earlyer was from my PS not the Video and my old PS is 220 W ATE when i use my new which is ATX my PC doesn't turn on the green light on the front panel is lighted up when i press the start button on the panel but my fans don't move and the PC doesn't start when i move the 24pin bus which has a 4pin bus that you can remove my fans start but it's only the CPU and the VGA or it's only the if i remove the 4 pinned one it's the same my mother board is but when i connect my old one the 220W it works fine but it turns off on L4D and some other games i went back to the store and they tested in on spot and it worked fine it started imidietly when i went back home and connected it again it didn't work .... again ..... :/ soooo i dunno what to do and i need your assitance again :S sry to bother you guys

Like you said your PSU is a 20+4pin connector which means the 4 pins can be removed, but if they can stay attached and plug into the motherboard, by all means do that. Also make sure that all other power cables are plugged in. Depending on the age of your motherboard and style, you might be required to connect a DIFFERENT 4pin connector to power the CPU which might explain why your computer isnt booting.
If possible post your motherboard specs or serial # here or if its a prebuilt computer IE DELL, HP, etc. post the maker and model number and Ill give it a good look over.

well my computer is custom made my Case is Delux my motherboard's ID is 63-0100-000001-00101111-031808-ATHLON64$697F1P42_BIOS DATE: 03/18/08 10:54:34 VER: 08.00.14(copyed from Everest Ultimate Edition) and my motherboard is Foxconn A690GM2MA/A690VM2MA Series

If so we figure it out from here. And ATX is the new power supplies, So thats what youll be wanting from now on especially if this is your motherboard.

in the top right had of the picture above you will see a 4 pin make sure that is connected along with the twenty four pin.
how can you connect another 4-pin when theres only 24-pins?

cause all new power supplies come with a 24pin and a 4,6or 8 pin to power the motherboard.

First of all, sorry for the crappy pics, and second Photobucket was down at the time I did this. The 4pin connector in the first pic should go in the 4 pins slot to the top left of the processor. While the 24pin connector powers the board, the 4 pin connector provides extra power to the processor. Very much like a Video Card using the 6 or 8 pin connector, it simply needs more power to run, which is what those extra cables are for. If you dont have a video card that uses them thats fine, its because of they way they are built.
just to make it a lil more understandable, the main power cable is a 20+4 pin cable & then to the upper left hand side where punisher showed in the photoshop pic is where the 4 pin cpu cable goes. if your power supply comes w/ a 20+4 pin cable, pretty much all of todays power supplies will have those cables linked together so that all u have 2 do is push them together & put it in the 24 pin place on the right side of the motherboard. the other 4 pin cable for the cpu will be separate from the 20+4 pin cable connector.
well i know how to connect my supply but i tested the supply on several more PCs and it turned up that the Power Supply was broken this was the way they selled it to me so i went back to the store and i told them and they give me new on top of that my old ATE supply is better than the ATX one it may be old but it's and ISO model and they are verry good atleast that is what i found out in the past 5 days and my PC was turning of because my AMD CPU was at it's limit the AMD CPUs are starting to turn off when they can't work properly anymore so if anyone is expiriencing my Turn Off problem and he is using AMD CPU mainly it may be the CPU that causes your PC to turn off.Thanks for everything guys
