Hardest class to play

I vote for Demoman. It's just so hard to aim with the grenade launcher. :(

Every class is unique and played in a different way. One of the reasons TF2 is so good is because all the classes are balanced. To be really good at any class is hard. Some classes may be easier to start, but in the end, to fully master any class is difficult.

I agree, it really depends on the player to see what's really hard and what's really easy

I'm pretty sure the Spy is the hardest class. You have to know the map as well as a Sniper, be as agile as a Scout without the speed or double-jump, and your primary mode of killing must be way up close and you must expose yourself, not to mention you have low health and are constantly being aggressively searched for.

Scout isn't very hard at all if you've played lots of CS or some other competitive FPS that had a very small emphasis on explosives. Same for the Sniper (although I admit that I am a terrible Sniper myself).

This is all balanced out by the fact that the Spy has some of the best rewards in the game if used to his fullest potential, but he's definitely the hardest to get to that point.

Nah, I use Spy all the time. I lag a lot for some odd reason so I'd have to say Scout. You have to pretty much rush every time your a live. which makes you an easy target.

No way! Spy is actually pretty easy. You get to go behind the enemies and act like one of them then backstab them and laugh.

Funny thing is I run into so many spies who are cloaked, and they just kinda sit there in front of me wondering what to do.

Then they get blown up.

Most to least difficult:

1. Spy
2. Scout
3. Medic
4. Engineer
5. Heavy
6. Pyro
7. Soldier
8. Sniper
9. Demo

Some clarifications are necessary of course. It's difficult to be a GREAT engineer, but any idiot can be a crappy one. It's easy to play sniper or soldier and get enough kills to make a difference for your team.

Spy is the hardest of course - mostly because the class is severely broken.

For me it depends on the map I play...In some maps I rule as demo and on the other maps against all laws of physics I suck AND blow at the same time as demo.
But generally, medic. It seems almost impossible to get your ?ber ready, and when it's finally done, someone kills you.
(PS burn to death pyros :D)

That may work on noobs, but all the halfway decent players spy check like crazy. And that's if you happen to make it back there alive. There's a reason spy is the 2nd-least played TF2 class. It's not only hard, even if well-played you still die. alot. At least it's useful, unlike scout.

Meh, scout isn't hard, you just have to follow simple guidelines. Keep to open areas, don't charge sentries, don't charge restricted areas when enemy are present, pick on players caught alone, double jump, hasty retreats, etc. It really is a worthless class in a team-oriented environment.

demoman... hard to use the grenades to rack up points while moving... camping is ez but being a true demoman is hard

Play with or against Violent Videogames a few times and see if your opinion of the worth of scouts changes.

Scout has a pretty high skill "ceiling" in order to be useful to your team.

There are two skill plateaus:
0) Nub -- you suck, epically.
1) Proficiency -- you are able to provide what your teammates expect of you.
2) Expert -- you force the other team to rethink their entire strategy.
THE SPY
In terms of getting to proficiency, I'd say that it's gotta be him. I am not one to learn with a manual, so I just kind of played the classes until I understood what they did. I had no idea what the sapper did for the longest time. I learned the hard way that stabbing drops your disguise, that you can't attack while cloaked, that disguising and cloaking and decloaking all take a second to kick in, that being anywhere near a pyro is a death sentence, and that when opponents bump into you they will drop anything they're doing to hunt you down. Valve has even noticed how ridiculous it is to try to play spy passably well and they're reworking how the whole disguise thing works. It's very nuanced. If they wanted to fix spy, in my opinion:
1- let them change their disguised weapon (engie with a wrench or toolbox is a lot less suspicious)
2- let them pretend to shoot at people without damaging anything.
3- let them walk through enemies while uncloaked.

THE SCOUT
But when it comes to reaching Expert level, you have to add Scout to the mix. He'd be a lot more dangerous if he didn't have to actually point his weapons while trying to evade fire at 50mph. He'd live a lot longer if he didn't have the weakest health of all the classes. He'd also get played more often if he had some role that other classes couldn't fill. He can double-jump, but soldiers and demos can go anywhere he can go just as easily and still arrive with more health than him. He can capture twice as fast, but anyone can capture. He's fast, but after you factor in level 3 teleporters, what does that speed really add up to in the end? It's rare for you to hear, "man we could really use another couple of scouts."
