Does this FPS seem normal?

Alright, my current system is as follows:

Q6600 OC'd to 3Ghz
8Gb Corsair Dominator DDR2-1066 @ 5-5-5-15-T2
XFX 780i Motherboard
Two MSI 8800GTS 512 (G92) in SLI (I've used every driver, beta and WHQL since 177, 181.22 Beta right now)

I play TF2 at 1440x900 and everything maxed.

In a 32 player game outdoors I'll sometimes get down into the upper 20s for FPS.

Is this reasonable for this system, or do you think something is amiss?
 
Something is definitely wrong. Very very wrong. You should be getting a minimum of 40 fps in a 32player outdoors.

You may have improperly OC'd your Q6600. Try reverting to automatic settings. You also may have a bad graphics card. Try one at a time.

I think its possible to get down that slow if you happen to have vsync running. If it is, you are automatically limiting yourself to 60 fps max (LCD) and if you happen to get into a battle with all 32 players, and explosions and everything going off at the same time... I think it is possible its can go down to the 20's. Most of the time though with your rig, I would assume you should be getting 60 or more though.

If you have vsync on, turn it off.
 
i have that problem too, but my pc is only a bit worse than yours, i reduced two of my settings down to med and im always at 30-40
 
I mostly get 70 to 110 and I have a Geforce FX 5950!!

On same thing 1440 by 900

This happens with or without the OC. I just happen to have it on now.

I do have vsync on, I'll try turning it off.
 
I turned vsync off, did nothing.

I turn the graphics and res all the way down (but still on DX9) and it would stay above 60. :/
 
Look at the steam forums, there is propably something on it. Tf2 sometimes cant recognize dual-core CPUS, so it could very well miss SLI as well.
 
Let me just give the OP some reference numbers.

I normally average around 60, but in the heaviest places in TF2 it sometimes drops down to 30 or lower...

Intel Q9450, stock at 2.66 ghz
4 Gb DDR2 800 RAM
GTX 280

I run all settings maxed, except maybe AA, at 8x CSAA (cant remember, may be 16xQ CSAA) with Vsync off... and I would assume your rig would be similar to mine.

You may want to try lowering AA to 4x. In the middle of a fight you probably wont notice the difference, and it will make a BIG difference on framerate.
