I believe the upgrade requires you to have XP installed before you can install Vista.
Stick with the normal one. :)

Yes the first one, upgrade OS's suck cause if something goes wrong and you have to reinstall, you first have to reinstall XP then install vista.

Stick with the full version so you will not be required to have XP to install vista.

Yeah I would do the first one too. Not sure if Vista is like XP or not, but in XP Upgrade it just wants you to put in the disk of a previous OS to verify that you have one then it will ask for the XP upgrade and continue. Nice to have a 98SE laying around for this lol...

I would definitely recommend you go for the full license version over the upgrade as well.
Reason being, the upgrade is more prone to install failure and file incompatibility. If a program
that you have now, is for sure NOT compatible with Vista, you will see massive issues during install..
But most importantly, if you do an upgrade you will bloat a new OS install with all the unusable
files and libraries of a now unused OS. The file and settings transfer wizard can help you export
and then import some of your preferred things, but by all means, do a fresh install to begin with.
