It is really expensive. However, if you can find a copy on craigslist for practically nothing, I'd say go for it...

Yeah. I was going to learn Russian for the fun of it (yeah, strange whim I now) and looked into Rosetta stone. Good thing the college I am am going to offers Russian.

I got it for Christmas last year, after looking into it, it's about $400-$500 (depending on which one you get), and after taking high school and college classes on the Spanish language, this thing is easy. It is extremely helpful, It's a little pricey but it 100% worth the price. I took a combined 5 years of high school and college Spanish courses and I barely knew Spanish. I used this program for two weeks for about 4-6 hours a day and I learned so much more, they use a different kind of learning than traditional classes and it is amazing. I recommend anyone to get it.

if i had Rosetta Stone, i will use it for Japanese...i have it for one of my high school course and im totally failing.. x_X (im still sucking at Hiragana and Kanji! (talk about cant read... -.-))

My school uses this program... It is pure awesomeness. The programs show good images and has side by side comparison of pictures and words. I think they have just about every language speakable in the world (popular languages: Spanish, Italian, French, etc) I would highly recommend this software.

It definitely takes a huge amount of time, and I lacked the patience for it. You may like Pimsleur, it's a listen and repeat type of program which I found more useful cause I can listen to it while I'm driving. If you feel like you can dedicate time to Rosetta though, I'd say go for it.

We were talking about the real Rosetta Stone today in HST 101... Look it up, it's just a chunk of rock with multiple languages on it. Interesting... well, I thought so anyways.

isohunt.com search Rosetta Stone. Download it there. 21 of the 31 languages i think.. .thats how i got it. FREE! (Must have appropriate programs to run it)

It's not the program, but rather, the amount of time and effort you're willing to put into learning a new language that lets you learn it.

Some libraries have an account through them so any of their members can get access to some of the lessons. I'm using it for French, I learn a TON more than I do at school.... took me from a 60 to a 95, i highly recommend it.
