A new build (need some help)

I like it, Perfect i like all the items you got there, And it's only 300!

So very nice i might just buy that stuff :)

You'll need a hard drive and a DVD drive unless you plan on pulling your current ones and using them in your new machine, as well as possibly a wireless ethernet card.

Wolfdale is a good Processor. Good choice at a very low price. Good luck, in my opinion, I would buy the rig :)

Well Dr. I might pull a Hard drive and a DVD drive from a old comp we have ( not my current one )
Thanks for your diagnosis (lol) (luv saying that)
Never even thought of an Ethernet card

why would u want a wireless card?
ok micro boards are not ment for gaming they get hot fast..
and foxconn not a good maker.
and its out of stock

That new motherboard is not compatible with your CPU. You'll need a Socket 775 motherboard.

A particular CPU has a particular socket type, which the motherboard must support otherwise the CPU won't even fit into the motherboard. AMD CPU's and Intel CPU's are of different socket types, so your current AMD motherboard will not accomodate your Intel CPU.

In this case, your CPU is of type Socket 775.

maybe im just being stupid but heres what im seeing.

everything is great except one thing.

Your motherboard says it supports up to DDR2 RAM

heres the issue.

You have selected corsair DDR3 RAM. Does your board support DDR3?
If it does not not only will the RAM not work, you wont even be able to stick it in your board.

No it dont. he has ram for a quad core and buying a core duo? the ram is going to down speed to ddr800.and ya got to stay away from micro boards when building a rig for gaming.that thing is going to get so HOT in that case.

I don't know your budget, but i will say ~$400 and take a stab at this:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827136149 - CD/DVD Writer - 21.99

Either one of these cases. I would spend a little bit on a good/decent case since air flow is always important. Here are two good low budget cases. I have worked with the cooler master and i have really enjoyed it, but the three hundred i hear great things about:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119068 - cooler master - 49.99

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129042 - Antec - 49.95

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136074 - WD 320gb HD. - 54.99 I use this in one of my other builds, and its pretty fast, well worth the money. If you can dish out a couple more bucks you could throw down for a 640gb WD:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136218 : 74.99

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231122 - g.skill memory 2x2gb(4gb). - 39.99. I use this memory in my main computer and it does a good job handling my overclocks. So i highly reccomend it.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128347 - Gigabye GA-EP43-DS3L - 79.99. Well worth the money. Again no personal experience but i hear great things, and if you want to, you could do some moderate overclocks with it.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116072 - E5200 73.99. this speaks for itself

Build comes in around ~320 - 330. Still gives you room on a $400 for decent headphones/mouse. I will leave that up to you, since everoyne has their own preference.

Well looks good if you get a different motherboard. I would reccomend Asus, Gigabyte, or DFI if your going to overclock. Also you definately wanna get an aftermarket cpu cooler. The stock intel ones suck! Don't forget to pick up some Arctic Silver 5 Thermalpaste as well to help reduce your temps!

One last thing. When you got to do the build have zip ties laying there to tie up any dangling wires to the chassis so that they arent blocking airflow.

I took your guys' ideas, it still is below 300 as well! Thank you!

EDIT:
I took off the mouse and headset. I can wait to get it.
