Who will win the Superbowl? I would like to know what you guys and girls think.
Steelers or Cardinals?

Though Pittsburg is a 7 point favorite last I heard. I got to vote for Arizona. They have all the offensive weapons. I know Pittsburgh has got the D to be able to stop them. But not all game. I think Arizona will win by 10.

But that also b/c dr. death is one of my division leaders and I enjoy playing cs so much.

Unless the Steelers can somehow find a way to shut down that machine they call Fitzgerald, they could have some troubles with this one.

being an arizonian the past 6 years I have come to terms with the cardinals. Being from Cleveland and a die hard browns fan, I can respect what the cardinals have gone through to get to the super bowl. If you were to ask me at the beginning of the year who would be in the super bowl, most certaintly would not include the cards. But who would of guessed? Steelers defense is just too much for the cards. In the end Pitt's d will get the best of kurt warner. Should be a great game though. GO BROWNS!

I live in Arizona, and although my favorite team during each regular season is not the Cardinals, it's certainly not the Steelers so...

GO CARDINALS.

This is a once in a lifetime experience!

This Super Bowl is a great match up but bottom line, defense wins championships. The Steelers are by far the best defense in the NFL. Now I understand that a lot of people like a sexy offense that puts up points with the long pass. That's just not enough to take down the best defense in the NFL. While Pittsburgh really can't just blitz the poop out of Kurt, they can rely on a great secondary to take away a lot of those long passes down the field. Kurt is just too comfortable in the pocket to make the blitz an effective weapon for a majority of the game. We're going to see too many 3 and outs from Arizona and if they can't get off those long passes for all 4 quarters, this game is over. You can't just win games with Wide Receivers. Ask the Lions who seem to only draft WR's in the first round every year. Three Quality WR's and a $5 will get you a small latte at Starbucks. The Edge has been nothing more than a distraction to set up the pass and a mediocre tool of quality QB's his entire career.

The Steelers offense on the other hand just pounds the ball, grinds the clock, and gets those 3rd down plays off. With a very good short pass game and a much more powerful running game, all they have to do is keep Arizona's offense off the field and their own defense rested. Even if the Steelers are down two scores or more going into the half you can't count them out. Ben has been great coming back in the second half and I see no reason he won't be in this game, especially against a pretty weak Cardinals D.

Bottom line, I'm going with the Steelers but I'm not comfortable with that 7 point spread (is it 7 or 6 1/2?). Arizona has gotten away with too many bad non calls all season to make that spread a good bet in my mind. I could even see this game won by the Cardinals by well over 2 scores if they can get away with non calls (cough Eagles game) and a few lucky bombs. The football purist in me and lover of the game goes with the Steelers and 6.

He makes a good point.
How did the Giants upset the Pats last year?

Defense.
Its the key to ANY sport.
Not to mention they were WAY hungrier..

Yeah. Ya know, a fun little comparison with these two teams would be the '89 Niners to this years Cards and the '85 Bears to this years Steelers. Now of course, neither of the teams in this Super Bowl really compare to the awesomeness of those two teams but there are similarities in their style of play.

Montana's Niners with that West Coast offense are basically what we're seeing with this Arizona team. It's not as effective of course but they need that dink and dunk pass to avoid the blitz and can't do anything if they don't get off the long bomb.

The '85 Bears (Best team of all time dude) were just ferocious on defense and the offense featuring the best running back of all time, Walter Payton, grinding out the clock and wore down the opposing teams D giving their offense very little time to set up any kind of rhythm which is a lot like this Steelers team.

Of course there is the argument that the West Coast offense basically killed Buddy Ryans 4-6 defense, but the game has changed and it's all modified Tampa Two D in today's game which is what is what has taken down the West Coast Offense dink and dunk junk but it's just a fun comparison..... for me at least.. Basically watch for the Steelers to play a tough secondary, sneak in some blitz's but try to get all their pressure on Warner with the front 4. They have to stop the wide outs from getting any separation and that Pittsburgh D is very good at man to man coverage.

...
Yeah, couldn't agree more?
I wasn't around in '89, or '85.. Was 85' when the Bears went undefeated?

Only team in history that has ever gone unbeaten was 72 dolphins. And for my prediction. Cardinals 24-21 with a last second field goal, and I predicted Giants would beat the Pats last year. No joke.

The '85 Bears lost their only game on MNF to the Dolphins keeping that franchise to be the only undefeated team to win a Super Bowl. The Bears were undefeated however back in the days before the Super Bowl in '34 and '42. If you can get your hands on 'em, check out some of the games from that '85 Bears or '89 Niners teams. I'm sure there are highlight reel dvd's out there. That '85 Bears team was just amazing. Lucky for me I grew up in Chicago and was the perfect age of 10 during that amazing Super Bowl Shuffle season.

I know there are football torrent sites that have old games in their entirety out there. I think one was called Ten Yard Torrents or something but if you just want highlights, rent of buy a good comp dvd of those teams in those years. I've got a dvd somewhere of the Bears/Raiders in like '84 in which the Bears just destroy the Raiders and send two of their QB's to the locker room injured. It's insane. They were mean, hehehe.
