Help!!

anyways my keyboard is not working =(
we had a thunder storm and now my keyboard won't work
also im using on screen keyboard to type it. no jk or anything im for real.
and when i go to keyboard nothing is there and its purple slot not a usb keyboard.

i can press num lock button but nothing happens


weird part is when i got to the welcome screen my mouse wouldn't work too
but it is now its a usb mouse,
i think my PS/2 port burnt out i tried two keyboards both PS/2 ports

And please note the keyboard is plugged in

i would try nother keyboard and mouse. but first i would turn the computer off, switch off the power supply, pull out the power cord, and leave it out for a minute or two. Let everything ground itself and reset. then turn the computer back on.

if neither of those work you have a damaged motherboard and will need to buy a new one most likely. and perhaps a surge protector

well i tired didn't work my usb mouse is working but it's not pluged into the PS/2 ports

I'm going to walmart tomorrow and i will pick up usb keyboard, and if it works, it
works

and i can't just get a new mobo since this ones going to my little sisters

everything is working fine it's just isn picking my keyboard up

What model computer is it? Most major system manufacturers provide boot up system tests to determine if hardware is faulty. That should be the first thing you do.

it's a self made pc my dad made it
The mobo is abit AV8

instead of buying a new keyboard, you might want to buy a ps/2 to usb adaptor to save some money if you know the keyboard is not broken.

Well I'm on my mom's pc and useing the same mouse and keyboard that is one my rig is on and the keyboard seems fine, So it's turned off in the bios or burn't out,
Long story short i was messing around pulling wires after what happen with the tunder storms and it messed it Before it worked then the storm came knocked my pc offline then i pressed my power button when the power came on nothing happen i waited 2 secs then i decided i try to unplug all the wires and plug them back in to see if that worked and everything worked but the keyboard, So i burnt the PS/2 out or it's off in bios >.<

Buying a USB keyboard tomarrow and going to see if my dad can get into the bios and see if it's off or if i burn't it out

alright, it's all fixed now i got a usb keyboard witch was 11 dollars and it was worth it

I've got a USB and That Solved it, i got a USB Logitech keyboard and it rocks and for cheap too! 11 dollars!
