I am a avid heavy weapons player, mainly on cashworks and I would like to get a discussion of some basic strats to spamming the heavy without deaths. Personally me and my boy Vinnie357 play heavy medic combos with a normal sentry gun *for dmg* and a uberheal for offense or a kritzkrieg for defense. Generally I am the first out the gate on the cart and let cart push me while my medic hides behind the cart and heals. This givens a general wall of bullets that works great until its time for fresh ammo. I am curious how others prefer to play the heavy, if any different.

You sound like a delightful heavy so far! I hope to heal you soon! hehe
But with ammo, I'm assuming you kill few guys, is it to risky to run and grab their weapons that they drop? If you get at least 2 medics, one to heal you and another to heal that medic that's healin you, I'm sure you can last quite awhile. Perhaps a soldier/pyro w/his shot gun shootin' the stickies haha
I'm thinkin though, I admit I don't play heavy, but with Natasha upgraded w/the patch, perhaps it'd be good to use w/a kritz? Slow 'em and mow 'em! :) And I guess gotta just remember where all the ammo packs are and hopefully your medic knows where all the med packs are!
Then again... a lot of this just needs enthusiastic players that work together :)

When I play heavy, you can always set a trap, suddenly start running away and at the corner get your gun spinning and tear them down. pretty much works all the time, especially with pyro?s

but kritskrieg is good when you are at open levels, or when your team is defending, but I usually prefer regular ubers since you usually get on fire or something, so you can still save yourself.

Well whenever i play payload, i like playing the heavy. What i do, although its not very well recommended, i jump on top of the payload and let it drive me around, it works well with demoman stickies, but not too great with snipers...

i play medic a lot more than heavy. but on more than one occasion my team (on attack) had a wall of at least 3 heavys on the cart with matching or more medics at a time. we walked it to the 3rd checkpoint before all of us died. it was awesome. someone has to remember this cmon!

I think I was playing with you when we did that.. On several occasions we have made the wall of heavy.

I frankly rarely play Heavy. I find I'm more effective with the faster Pyro or an Engineer with mah senry gun.

But when I do go for heavy, it's usually for the Shock and Awe effect. A wall of Russian flesh and miniguns spitting out lead usually convinces the other team to fall back and make room for the more specialized classes.

Then again, I keep getting stuck with less-than-optimal medics who suffer from ADD and rush off just at the moment I need them :D

I don't really blame them. I *am* a n00b when it comes to the big angry guy, so maybe they found a better opportunity?

I think how you play the heavy, or at least how I play the heavy, is really situational. Depends on a lot on the map and what the other classes are both on your team and the other.

If there are lots of snipers on the other side, I'm going to be dodging and weaving more. Hiding behind things and trying to get to really close range if possible.

If it's a wide open space where I can just spray the gun around to help suppress the enemy, I'll do that.

If I start seeing lots of enemy spy stabs, then I'll try to find more narrow corridors, etc.

That said, I like the recent heavy buffs!
