Opinion about class play

I was just curious, is it considered noobish if you prefer to stick to one class that your good at? Reason being is that, for those who run into me in 2fort, my class of choice is a soldier, and being one who prefers not deviate from the norm, hardly play any other class.

How much I play a soldier you ask? Just a comparison; I have 30 hours played as a soldier, next highest is pyro at 4.

While I really like playing a soldier, I'd like to make myself a better, all-around player, but dunno how to break the norm. Any suggestions?

i personally don't find it noobish if you stick with one class, except the pyro. Pyro takes no skill to be decent. But if your good with the soldier, there's no problem with sticking with him. Not everyone has the greatest skill with him... me being one...

its great that you stick to one class, its actually better for u to do so until you get the absolute hang of that class before you try a diff one. Personally i have over 212 hours played as spy and over 100 as demoman. I am trying to get used to pyro and im actually having alot of fun as pyro...(kinda easy class, but need to know how to ambush good). Take my advice and stick with one class till youve mastered it.

Hmm valid point, Frisky. I'm gradually getting better at leading with rockets, if that makes any sense. I'm still rather unskilled at rocket jumping however.

And Cr@sH, I was actually aiming for that. Nothing wrong with seeing two sides of the story.

I also played most hours as soldier and demoman, but I played a lot of all the other classes as well, so guess you could say I'm the "more well rounded" type, which basically means I'm mediocre in all the classes at best...

so yeah better to stick to one until you master it
or get bored with it

Im a medic/heavy always... if i start getting pissed off i switch to spy and become their worst nightmare.

Personally, I would love to be able to just play one class every day, but I can't. I have to have variety so I spend a bunch of time on other classes. But I don't think it's noobish to want to just play one class, I know a bunch of people who do it and I envy their ability to play just one class, and they're not noobish.

I don't consider it noob-sih. No one starts off good as any class, we develop skills and we stick with classes we have most fun with. I play soldier most but I choose other classes to try and get more "skill." Scout I have roughly 10 hours while as soldier I have around 230 hours. No shame in playing what you're good at.

And it also depends on the map. Maps like dustbowl and goldrush I play a wide variety of classes as I usually pick demoman, heavy, or pyro. But I don't even know what I'm talking about anymore.

I strongly disagree with that, you could say that for every classes. for every class you can just run and shoot. Yes, it may be a good start when you are a new player but this is totally wrong,there is more than that. ( axtinguisher, airblast in good spots, etc.)

Also for your question, I wouldn't say it is noobish, you just play the class you want to play! The point is to have fun! Mine is pyro, but I like to switch to any other class from time to time

I see nothing wrong with playing just one class. I play almost exclusively sniper, and as a result, I have gotten pretty good. But I didn't start playing sniper because I wanted to master it, I just had fun. So if playing one class exclusively is fun for you, do it, if you like to mix it up, then do that. TF2 is all about fun .

The best way to play for me is play a different person at different stages, usually it mixes between demo / sniper / medic

lately it is just demoman, but I have around 160 hours, still need to improve myself on a lot of points. But people think of new things and tricks so you need to keep practising since the gameplay changes.

I wouldn't at all say it's noobish to play as one class all the time. I'm pretty much always either a Pyro or Heavy and it seems most other people find a class that they like and they will default to it often. However, I usually try out the other classes every once in a while just to give myself a challenge or when my team desperately needs that type of class.

I think it's smarter to play as one class, master it, and then move onto a new class if you so wish. However, the point of the game is to have fun so which ever way works for you.

But yeah, soldier is the class I enjoy the most, and i'm not too shabby at it, or so I hope, but I still have lots to learn about it.

i change to whatever class the team needs. I tend to switch between spy, sniper and demo, demo being my best.

It's a matter of playing what you find fun and what your team needs at the moment. Sure, you may like going a Soldier all the time, but you're not going to have fun as a Soldier if your entire team is devoid of Medics, so maybe you should go Medic. Give and take, that is teamwork.

That is the best way to get good at a class. I also play soldier a lot, it's a very versatile and powerful class. Not to mention rocketjumping totally rocks. You will eventually get bored and start playing other classes more.

Play as a spy and you can pick to be any class!!
