Opinion about class play

i find nothing wrong with playing one class. For example i have 300 hours as soldier and my next class that play has only 65 hours.

i tend to play demoman as much as i can because i am best at it

if i join a game and my favorite class has 5 people playing it, i wont pick it even tho i know im probly better than most of the people playing it, so i will pick something else to fill the team balance quota

I have played Engineer a lot. (Stats link in my sig) But I have found that it is good to try other classes every now and then. Makes the original class more fun. Plus being an engineer I really hate it when engineers are horrible at placing sentries so I really enjoy playing scout so I can run past poorly placed sentries.

I don't find it noobish. When I play bad, I usually switch to a class that I'm pretty good at. If I play well, I'll try to play other classes just to get used to them.

personaly, I always play as a heavy or an pyro. but i have a lot of time with the scout because of time spent on 2fort. but thanks to the update (hehheheh) i will be a heavy for a long time to come.....

I was just curious, is it considered noobish if you prefer to stick to one class that your good at? Reason being is that, for those who run into me in 2fort, my class of choice is a soldier, and being one who prefers not deviate from the norm, hardly play any other class.

How much I play a soldier you ask? Just a comparison; I have 30 hours played as a soldier, next highest is pyro at 4.

While I really like playing a soldier, I'd like to make myself a better, all-around player, but dunno how to break the norm. Any suggestions?

Lots of people religiously play one class, but if you're playing for fun do whats fun. Basically once you learn the fundamentals of TF2 in general, not class specific stuff, you'll be able to put your hands on any class and realize what you can potentially do without effort. I'm not saying you'll be the jack of all trades, but you would certainly have the knowledge to do so later when you want to.

I say stick with what you're good at. When i first started i played only demo, and i eventually branched out. I have over 147 hours as demo and 30+ hours as sniper. I still play demo a lot as you can tell.

I started out mainly sniping, (46 hours as that) got good and thought hey demoman looks fun (now 74 hrs - my main class) then oh I wonder if Ill be any good at engy (70 hrs as engy) and so on and so forth. My main classes are battle medic *waits for people to groan* demoman, sniper and soldier and I am trying out the Scout. The way to break any habit is to start with a little, maybe go 5 mins as another class, another day do 10 mins and so on. I personally dont think it is "nooby" to stick to one class, I switch depending on what we need (Today in 2fort IR we had 0 attack classes, 3 demos, 4 engys, 2 heavys, 3 medics, 2 spys, 1 sniper, I went pyro even though I suxorz at him (her?))

I played spy today, I am really terrible at it but if you yell enough and call for a medic, they will actually heal you.

Then I stabbed the medic, it was fun :P

but still the demoman is the most powerful class so I use that.

Favourite class is Soldier, and my second favourite is Engineer. Soldier will always be my preferred class, with over 230 hours on him. A bit more than 100 hours on the Engineer..

It is not noobish to stick to one class, but playing all classes will would make you a jack of the trades.

My Favourite class used to be spy, but since that so called *Buff* tothe spy, it really just killed my inspiration to play it.

My classes that i'm good at nowadays is Soldier, Pyro, Medic.

Could use some work with improving at scout. (I sux at scout)

I personally play all the classes. If you play the class, you know its weakness.

Still play soldier way more than any other class, but playing the others helped me understand how to kill them easier.

This.

Because I played spy so long. I usually know when they'd strike, uncloak or when they're following me :p

haha this is so true, now I know when they stairstabs or try their little tricks and BAM! I get them :)

I play all classes, mostly to try and address the needs of the team.

But yeah, if I'm in a non-eGO server I'll play spy, soldier, or scout as I find those are the most fun.

If I was actually really good at one class though I'd probably play only that, but I've yet to come across a class that I feel I'm really good at.

haha actually it's the opposite with me, I started playing more spy after the update, but I feel the same way

like... aaaw, this isn't so hard now, I can just run to the ammo stash and good luck finding me

if that wasn't enough, now with the dispenser buff spies are super cheap

I have two responses to this:

  1. If you like a class, feel free to play it however much you want! It's a game, afterall :D
  2. It's not really noobish, if you're going to be better with a class, there's no harm in playing it!
