im running on intel duo 2 e6600 with dual 8800 GT OC's on a 570sli motherboard. if i upgrade, what card would give me more performance with what i have, and is it even worth it overall, (performance and price).

Well, you have quite a setup there... the performance gains probably wouldn't be worth the cost. Therefore, if you decide to get a new card, get the GTX 280 or the 295. To me, that's the only way it'd be worth the upgrade. Two 8800's is a pretty sweet setup already.

well depends ati or nvidia.
the 8800gt is now called the 9800gt which is now called the 240.
ati's 4870 cant go wrong.or a nvidia 260or 280. seeing a lot of games really dont support sli or crossfire.

You have the same gpus I have. I would stick it out and wait for the next gen., you've already made quite an investment. If you want more performance you should consider overclocking your cpu.

What resolution are you playing at? How much AA/AF are you applying in your games? If you're happy with your current frames and image quality, there's little point in upgrading.

im running at 1650x1050 with high settings on everygame. my fps for games like DoD, TF2, Ins and CS are all around 50-80 fps. But when i play L4D it drops and the game freezes every once in a while. I'm wondering if its my cards or what. But from what i understand the 8800 GT OC should be able to handle a game like L4D w/o any problems. how can i get L4D to run flawlessly without and frame freezing.

Well, in all the times I've had issues with one game not working as well as the others, it's been either a chipset problem, a video card driver problem, or a game problem.

In that order. So I recommend you update your chipset drivers first, then check for video card drivers, then look for patches for the game.

and if you still want to update to a new card, post how much you are willing to spend.

With your setup, sounds like heat issues.

Download Speedfan, and play like you normally would.

speed fan? is that a good program? how hot should your video cards be running when playing a game such as Insurgency or DoD? both my cards run at 145 Fahrenheit.

Try upgrading to the new nVidia drivers--first uninstall the old ones, reboot, and then reinstall the new ones. You also may need to update your motherboard drivers/bios. SLI is a bit finicky.

Well, 145F isn't TOO bad, although you might want to see if you can lower it a bit more.
