WW2 movie advice!

Ok I need an advice on a WW2 movie because the teacher asked me for a movie of WW2 to watch in class (cuz we are talking about the holocaust) but she said like it must like show a bit how the jews were threated and all does anyone know a good movie about that and please not a movie from 1960 lol
 
The Band of Brothers episode "Why We Fight" deals with this and it might be more relevant to a class since it's up to date and has good production value. It's also probably the best treatment I've ever seen of this delicate and poignant subject.
 
The new movie Defiance?
Schindler's List?
Usually not too much focus on the inner side of Nazi Germany.
 
Schindler's List would be what your teacher wants, too bad Defiance isn't out on dvd yet.
 
I think Schindler's List is a good one aswell. Maybe try to find a History Channel documentary?
 
How about The Pianist starring Adrien Brody? Or The Diary of Anne Frank (it's from 1959:))?
 
The Grey Zone.

Its a pretty good film shot in 2001.

Basic Synopsis is: "Special Squads of Jewish prisoners placed by the Nazis in the excruciating moral dilemma of helping to exterminate fellow Jews in exchange for a few more months of life"

Well shot & well acted, not to mention depressing as all get out.
 
Das Boot is an interesting one since its from the perspective of the German Kriegsmarine, though it's long as hell (4 hours).
 
err...Swing Kids lol? Well, it's more about the Hitler Youth (kinda like the american version of Boy Scouts). It stars Robert Sean Leonard (Dr. Wilson from the TV shot House)
 
Another good movie if "Life is Beautiful" this is a very controversial movie as it is a comedy about the holocaust, and it is a bit sad at the end, but defiantly worth a watch, my teacher showed it to my class in school.
 
From an educational stand-point, I think 'The Pianist' gave a better insight to what it might have been like to be a Jew under the Nazi shadow than maybe even 'Shindler's List'. It was a very good movie as well.

Schindler's List will give you a global insight of the Holocaust. Tha Diary of Anne Frank, and The Pianist are specific cases. All of them are great productions and stories.

Go to allmovie.com and search for Holocaust, there are plenty movies and documentaries, hope this helps you.

Yes, I saw that last week. For the holocaust I'd say thats a good choice.
 
Your class won't want to sit through 3 hours of drama, the Band of Brothers episode is an hour long and gives a taste of one minor concentration camp being found by American recon soldiers, but it is just a snapshot. Shindler's List is a graphic discription of life from both sides but again, quite long.
 
Thanks allot guys today I talked about band of brothers Why we fight she said she would try to watch it this weekend. And I saw it and looks good so thanks for your advice :D
 
Schindlers List is the easy pick. Life is Beautiful is also a great choice, but it's really more suited to a film class to watch, not for a history class. Great movie none the less. Band of Brothers is by far my all time favorite ANYTHING WWII related.

I'm going with the outsider pick here....

HUZZAH! Hirogens and Nazis and Seven of Nine? Win dude. Full of win.
