A quick hint on idling servers

I know some of you want to idle the servers overnight, but are worried about how much extra power your computer would use. If you taskbar or alt-tab the game, it will use much much less power.

On my computer, full graphics, in server:
Windowed focused CPU load: 30%.
Windowed task-barred CPU load: 6%.

Fullscreen focused CPU load 35%.
Fullscreen task-barred CPU load 1%. (!!)

Also, if you have a laptop with power management, you can set it to longest battery life mode and sure, you'll get 2 FPS, but it won't use much power. And you're not there to looks.

I only Idle whenever im not on the computer... if im on I am playing something.

Idle at night (bed time) or whenever you are playing a game on the PS3 or 360 or something like that... if you are going out, make sure to idle in a server.

Also Drunken had a good point today, have something in your name (an S or says something like "out and about" making sure admins know you are there to strictly idle).

We also discussed in today's meeting putting a after your =(e??)= tag if you are seeding. This will help us know not to afkcheck you if the server is only half full and we are trying to clear up afk problems, and it helps us remove you when the server gets close to being full again.

And trust Atten when it comes to idling. He's serious pro. One time I saw him single-handedly take Valve maps from 0 to 32 in an hour. It's ridiculous!

to prove what one of the leaders said last night at the meeting(i forget who) have more than one person idling the server gets it full faster, valve maps started with 3 at around 8:45 gmt by 9:30 gmt it was at 18 players. it is much better to join a server with one or two people idling already as it will fill much faster, making ur time more effective.
