External USB HD problems...

Ok i have a A8N-SLI Deluxe socket 939 mobo with an AMD Athlon 64 X2 DC 4600+ processor with 3 gigs of RAM running windows XP Pro SP2 (i dont like SP3 so i never downloaded).

Lol ok im a nub its my external USB HD,it shows up in the device manager, uninstalled and re-installed still doesnt let me use it as storage... Sorry for the confusion, my drives were re-named and the path letter is different.

Before i had to re-install xp i had it running fine so i know it works!

Honestly have no idea what you're talking about. XP should recognize a SATA drive with no problems. This drive has worked before but now isn't?

That is correct it should but in worse case try the old way.
Get the SATA drivers in a floopy Drive if you still have one around and Press F6 at boot and load it. Also make sure you have not disabled the SATA option in the Mobo by accident and went IDE only(If you have done this by accident you will not see the SATA)
It has happen to me before and i felt like an idiot when i noticed what i did. lol
Also check if you have not moved any jumpers on your HD and your connections are fine.
