Hey everyone! Chocozumo here from the TF2 division...

I was thinking about downloading Insurgency on my CP....but....


1)Is it like Combat Arms (Lame) or CoD4 (awesome) where you choose your weps?

2) Rrrrr.....

Oh yeah...never evere evevrevvreer forget, you should NEVER FORGET TO....wait...I forgot...
 
Insurgency is on the Source engine, so it's nothing like Combat Arms. That engine is awful. All I can say is, it's one of the most realistic online FPS games I've played in regard to physics, reliability on iron sights and weapon damage. Mind you, this IS a mod. It is not a franchised game developed by a professional game development company like Valve or Infinity Ward, so there are some small bugs and issues with collision detection and shading and whatnot.

Yes, you choose your own weapons/roles at the beginning of each round. However, there is no weapon modification in the game just yet. Meaning, you can't add silencers, scopes, bipods, M203 grenade launchers to anything. You just pick a role and fill it to the best of your ability.

You can play as either U.S. Marines or Iraqi Insurgents. Class roles for each are very similar.

There are only a handful of maps available right now but I believe people are occasionally creating new custom maps for INS.

The best thing to do if you're curious is to just try it. No opinion can pull you away from your own choices.

Yeah, weapon choice is slightly restricted simply because a full squad will have everything. It also limits the very very common complaint other games see of "We don't need so many snipers." Each team only gets two because there are only two marksman slots open on each team. If someone else wants that gun they can wait until the slot opens up or if a marksman dies they can pick it up and snipe with it. The downside of this is when you join a full server, there will only be one slot open and you don't really have a choice. You usually get stuck with the shotgun or the RPG.

However, I will tell you if you do play the game be very careful. A single shot can and will kill you. And I don't mean headshots. It's very realistic in that someone gets shot in the chest. He's dead. (Unless the hit box doesn't register it right).

the reason I stopped playing combat arms is that one....the spawnkilling, nade noobing is just tremendous in the game...And two...the way people somehow magically fly through the place with hacks were everywhere....

You can say that again. I dream about the game. During the day, I daydream about the game. Sometimes I think I should cut back... but.. hey I'm not an addict, I can quit any time. I just don't want to. :)
 
If only I could play, darn you stupid computer! I wonder when my RAM is coming...
