Hello people, this is my first former thread (not counting the application one) and i hope you like it

I would like to dedicate this post to the hardest game ever made: I wanna be the guy.

So, what is IWBTG? Its a platformer game that is hard as ballz. You are "the kid" on his quest to become "the guy". To pass the game you need to defeat 6 bosses (Mike Tyson from punch out, Mecha Birdo, Bowser, Wart and Dr willy, Dracula from castlevania and Mother Brain from Metroid) that will give you tokens to access the castle of The guy, once you are inside you fight one last boss before encountering with The guy.

As you can see, the game is based in old video games and offers a great variety of 64-bit music that comes from those games.

The game offers 4 difficulty modes, such as normal (increased number of save points) hard (normal amount of save points) very hard (less save points) and impossible (which contains no save points)

Please note that the map is missing several rooms, the mine cart ride and the castle of the guy which are around 30-40 screens.

I've been playing it for quite a while, and im missing only 1 boss until i can acces the mine cart ride. And just so you know, i've been playing on normal and i have around 2000 deaths.

This is the boss that im currently at:



Its a metroid based room with spaghetios (the red balls) and some bullets (the green-like ones), the mother brain there IS the boss :P

I believe the video is in 2x speed, but im not that sure...

OK, that was probably the largest post I've ever seen in a forum, period. It was so large, it took me a while to find the reply entry box, hehehe.

But anyways, I've played this game and it's ridiculously hard. Ever played Syobon Action? (That crazy cat mario clone thing that actually actively tried to trick you) This is a billion times harder. I've never gotten past the screen after the tetris level.
 
Yeah, i had trouble finding the reply box 2. Sorry about that.

Anyways, it would be awesome if any of the ones that have not played it try it out, it can be frustrating but there is no way to describe the feeling of passing a screen that took you ages to pass (and then get killed at the next screen before reaching a save point!)
 
I had never heard of this game before but I just watched someone play threw it all. Pretty crazy....really confusing....who made this game?
 
I got it installed it and it loaded..Then nothing..I couldn't even get into game just the menu saying whats in the game =|
 
Hum water cory, the controls are a little weird, its shift for jumping and z for shooting, in order to advance from that screen you need to press "z"
 
Wow Tory, that image of the game map was huge. I've removed the image and just put a link there instead. Talk about totally breaking the forum tables. :)

That said, the game looks pretty interesting. I might have to give it a try.

I've played this game for countless hours at a Lanfest in Washington once

I can't believe we actually beat it. This game is so hard lmao

It's an amazing game though. You should all download it, and waste as much time trying to beat it!
 
Yeah, there are lots of videos like that one.

Also, i forgot to tell you people, there are 6 hidden items (which have no effect) in the game, each in separate very hard to reach and very hard to pass rooms.

If you pass the game you may also play the Boss Fights mini game, and if you beat it in less than 30 minutes you receive the sixth hidden item.
 
Hello guys! Im sorry for not updating but i've been under a lot of stress. First of all, i want to show you that i finally beat metroid, here is a ss of the screen after you beat it.



As you can see, there is a timer on the right top corner, and you must pass around 7 more screens in that time. After that you get to a part like this one:



This area is like a building with lots of couchs and spikes, the couchs are just mean, they throw you to the spikes :(

Atm i passed the building and im at the "snake" part, where you stand on a platform and wait for another one to appear. Ill post a screenshot of it later.
 
I played that map at a friends house one night and beat Mike Tyson, then got to that moon part and almost smashed the computer after trying a billion times....I'll never be the guy....
 
Hey guys, i've been playing and i was able to pass the snake part untill the yellow devil. Here are the screenshots:




Okey, here is the entrance to the caslte of the guy, if you try to enter before defeating all bosses you will get killed, so you should take the teleport below so you can defeat the rest of the bosses.




Now, did you thought it would be all easy? Those fishes are there to make your life impossible! The good thing: You can "kill" em, and when they touch you they only push you. The bad thing: they push you really far :<.




After the fishes and some jumping action you get to some bullet bills, these dont move, but they kill you like almost everything else! (also, remember the cart moves so its almost like they move).




Now, the part where i am at, the yellow devil :O! (at least i think thats his name). He appears after you pass the mine cart ride. He starts chasing after you forcing you to jump 1 square at a time over the void until you get to a 4 platform stair, something like this

(red faces = squares, yellow = nothing)

After that, he starts shooting fireballs at you, and after you hit him for enough dmg he starts dividing himself into 6 pieces, which later he moves across to the other side of the screen. He does this another 2 times and then starts chasing back at you through the way you came, the squares. After you arrive to land he crashes and you get teleported to the guy.

Ofc i havent beat him, but im sure ill do it soon. Stay in touch!
